We have partnered with our client in their search for an Interim Marketing Manager/Director in the Plano, Texas area.
Responsibilities
- Develop and steward a distinctive, mission-aligned brand that resonates with children, families, educators, donors, community leaders, and other stakeholders.
- Establish the museum's brand platform, including positioning, key messages, voice, visual identity, and brand standards.
- Ensure consistency and quality across all public-facing communications, signage, digital channels, advertising, publications, and visitor materials.
- Translate the museum's mission, programs, and educational impact into clear and compelling stories.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the Executive Director, leadership team, and board on matters involving reputation, public messaging, and community perception.
- Build broad awareness of the museum as an accessible, inclusive, educational, and family-centered community resource.

Fundraising and Stakeholder Communications
- Collaborate with the executive director to support fundraising campaigns, sponsorships, donor communications, special events, and stewardship activities.
- Help articulate the museum's case for support and communicate its educational and community impact.
- Develop materials for donors, foundations, corporations, government partners, and prospective supporters.
- Assist with campaign announcements, recognition strategies, annual reports, impact reports, and major gift communications.
- Ensure appropriate recognition of founding donors, sponsors, partners, and supporters in accordance with museum policies.
Communications and Public Relations
- Proactively identify opportunities to position the museum as a leader in children's learning, science education, family engagement, and community development.
- Coordinate media visits, interviews, press previews, and major institutional announcements.
- Monitor public sentiment and respond appropriately to reputational risks, misinformation, visitor concerns, and emerging issues.
Digital Strategy and Content
- Lead the strategy and ongoing management of the museum's website, email communications, social media channels, digital advertising, and other digital platforms.
- Oversee the development of an accessible, user-friendly, mobile-responsive website that supports ticketing, memberships, donations, school reservations, program registration, and visitor planning.
- Develop an editorial and content calendar that highlights programs, exhibitions, educators, community partners, supporters, and visitor experiences.
- Create engaging, age-appropriate content that makes science approachable and encourages families to explore beyond the museum visit.
- Ensure digital content reflects the museum's commitment to accessibility, inclusion, privacy, and child-appropriate communications.
- Use search optimization, email segmentation, social media insights, and website analytics to expand reach and improve conversion.
- Establish guidelines for photography, video, testimonials, permissions, and responsible representation of children.

Education & Work Experience
Required
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, business, nonprofit management, museum studies, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least ten years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, communications, public relations, audience development, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing integrated marketing and communications strategies.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across sectors and audiences.
