We currently seek a Market Manager to help support our continued business growth in the Aerospace & Defense market.
This position will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategic and tactical product and/or marketing and/or business plans that will lead to profitable business growth. The MM is responsible for understanding the economic and competitive dynamics of the market, as well as the continuous voice of the customer - gathering and monitoring industry trends, understanding the needs/trends of our customers as well as their customers. Based on this, the MM will recommend via a sound business case, new products to meet specific market and/or customer needs and trends. This includes development and management of Intellectual Property (IP) direction and strategic partnerships, as required. The MM provides support to customers and sales, and collaborates with Marketing Communications on development of effective promotional campaigns. The MM is responsible for attending or insuring company representation at key Standards committees. Also responsible for commercial leadership to Labs (R&D group) for the Aerospace and Defense. market.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develops and implements multifaceted A&D business plan. Makes and directs new product proposals / development. Develops pricing for new products. Determines appropriate sales channel(s). Conducts Customer and Market research (Voice of the Customer).
- Participated and leads cross-functional product teams to carry out the product executions plans including technology transfer from R&D to manufacturing
- Develops alliances to create new and strengthen existing channels to market. Participates in formulating strategy and executing plans for IP licensing.
- Regarded as customer advocate, develops and maintains strong customer relationships, knows and understands the needs of the customers' customers. Gathers, analyzes and communicates information on the competition. Conduct Sales personnel training.
- Working closely with R&D teams on the development of technical roadmaps to create the products that will ensure continued growth in the A&D Market.
- Defining new product and marketing opportunities, managing the marketing mix with respect to focused markets, and developing effective promotional campaigns.
- Develop/Write and execute market strategy and 3-5 year business plan. Understand/Analyze regulatory and technology trends. Conduct market research and determine the best channel to market. Provide forecasts for the A&D market. Develop collateral material and pricing strategy. Understand the competition's product offering and their strengths and weaknesses.
- Support and sometimes manage new product development activities in support of achieving revenue and profit objectives. Develop alliances, formulate IP strategy and participate in key standards committees. Provide strategic direction to engineering and sales teams.
- Support and work with Sales, R&D and Manufacturing in planning and executing market and product plans (CFT). Coordinate activities with other MM's, especially in areas with overlap, such as sensing, communication and fiber lasers. Assist in coordination of both internal and external communications related to public relations strategy.
Analytics:
- Measure overall sales by customer and product mix, identifying new product introductions, to develop countermeasure to maximize profitable growth.
- Identify Market segments and nichés by growth rate, phase of maturity, barriers to entry, and other market forces
- Conduct formal VOC initiatives and analyze the data to segment, identify trends, and recommend new product development to meet the identified customer/market needs.
- Travel 25--40%, alone or with other SPD team members, visiting customers, trade shows, etc.
- Perform other related duties as required by management
Key qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Business, Marketing, and 5-10 years related marketing/product management experience.
- Incumbent is expected to demonstrate technical competency, effective communications, team building, marketing management and negotiating skills as well as meeting our cultural standards.
- Incumbent is expected to pursue professional growth and development training for her/himself.
- Experience with VOC, Segmentation, and PLCM methodologies.
- Experience with Hosin Kanri, a plus.
