Our client is part of a multi-billion dollar, award-winning industry leader that manufactures custom electronic and acoustic products. We are partnering with them on a Manufacturing Engineering Team Lead role for their HQ in the Chicago metro. Our client is American-made and they do all of their production out of this local campus. We are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer or Industrial Engineer to drive projects and manage Engineers & Techs in a high-mix, low-volume production site.
The Manufacturing Engineering Team Lead will be responsible for driving product launches for new and updated products. They will also be managing a team of Jr. Industrial Engineers. Projects will be focused on maximizing plant floor capacity, driving process improvements, participating in Lean & Six Sigma projects, bringing new products to market, and troubleshooting production issues.
Manufacturing Engineering Team Lead Responsibilities
Coordinate launch activities for new & updated products and processes including training, coaching, and supervision to the Industrial Engineering team.
Drive process & manufacturing improvements including plant floor layout redesigns, manufacturing cell development, creation of standard work, throughput analysis, and product costs.
Collaborate with product development, operations, and other departments to plan and execute launch activities.
Provide Engineering & technical support to for new product launches and changes on existing products or processes.
Collect and evaluate data to develop strategies and make strategic decisions on additional areas of improvement.
Troubleshoot quality defects and process issues.
Ensure proper documentation including Standard work, work instructions, and bill of materials are completed.
Build strong team relations. Work collaboratively with all people in the organization regardless of department or seniority.
Manufacturing Engineering Team Lead Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, or a related Engineering field is required.
A minimum of 7-10 years of experience as a Manufacturing or Industrial Engineer within product development.
Previous experience in managing or mentoring Engineers or Technicians is preferred.
Knowledge of PFMEA tools & technologies.
Proficiency with SolidWorks or a similar 3D CAD software.
Demonstrated success in using Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Continuous Improvement, Kaizen, or related manufacturing process improvement tools.
Bilingual in English & Spanish is a plus but not required.
