This company is headquartered in Houston, Texas and employs approximately 1,200 people. It provides application solutions to a wide range of industries including industrial, power electronics, and transmission and distribution systems.
Lucas Group is partnered with a client and we are searching for a full-time experienced (10 years minimum) Manufacturing Engineering Manager. The ideal candidate will identify, plan, implement and control activities related to equipment and process in order to improve or correct operational performance. This individual will ensure production goals are met through the service and support to the operations department. He or she will also be responsible for ensuring environmental controls and safety initiatives in within the engineering department and throughout the plant. Candidates must have strong financial and business acumen as these are critical elements for budget planning and project evaluation.

Skills and Experience:
- Engineering Bachelor's Level Degree: Mechanical or Electrical preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of manufacturing engineering experience including project management, cost control, safety, quality systems, and direct supervision.
- Proficient in Auto-CAD or 3D-CAD.
- Able to speak and read Japanese a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to build strong relationships.
- Ability to plan for short, mid, and long range goals.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills.
- Experienced in implementation and use of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Automotive Industry experience preferred (ISO TS 16949, Core tools, ISO 14001, OSHAs 18001, etc.).
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan staffing and evaluate performance of direct reports.
- Identify, manage, and implement projects assuring delivery of tangible improvements and savings through.
- Decrease process variability through either process or equipment changes or adjustments.
- Oversee engineering projects. Empower direct reports (MFG engineers) to identify and implement projects individually, standardize engineering practices and operating work instructions. Set standards to ensure safety of engineering department.
- Support the efforts of other departments, work cohesively to implement and oversee projects related to equipment, process improvements, quality, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and environmental or safety improvements.
- Schedule shutdown activities and projects. Provide overall direction for execution of these projects.
- Coach, counsel, and mentor team members to facilitate their growth and career development.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in productivity, scrap, quality, and safety. Implement changes to support those improvements utilizing 5S and other Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Support all departments on certification efforts for different standards.
- Assist all departments in the implementation and continuous improvement of 5S and other Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Implement and report engineering metrics to establish process capability, process capacity, and efficiency.
- Assist the maintenance department in the day to day equipment troubleshooting and issues.
- Assist in the design and oversee installation of new equipment, including ability to calculate capacity and labor needs for normal operating conditions.
