We have partnered with our client in their search for a Managing Director of DevOps for a remote contract to hire opportunity.

The Managing Director - DevOps is a pragmatic, value-driven technology leader who sets the enterprise-wide DevOps vision and delivers measurable outcomes across all business areas at our client. This leader oversees the Release Engineering and Cloud Operations (including Site Reliability Engineering) functions, providing a unified structure for modern DevOps practices. The role focuses on accelerating delivery, improving platform reliability, and maximizing the benefits of cloud-native technologies. Note that, while the role emphasizes cloud-native technologies, it also supports the broader technology landscape, including IBM systems.

    • Maintain a strong focus on enabling engineering teams to build and deliver solutions by providing streamlined DevOps tooling, automated paths to production, and eliminating fragmented, low-value tasks that hinder productivity. • Serve as the connective tissue between product, security, and infrastructure groups - turning complex technical concepts into executive-level narratives that further drive alignment.

  • Enterprise DevOps Strategy & Governance
    • Craft and socialize a multi-year DevOps roadmap aligned to business goals, spanning CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure-as-code and observability.
    • Define guardrails, objectives and key results (OKRs), and policy frameworks that balance delivery speed with security and compliance.

  • Release Engineering and Compliance
    • Evolve IBM packaging standards and automated promotion pipelines to ensure zero-defect deployments across on-prem and cloud workloads balancing velocity with audit-grade compliance and risk mitigation.
    • Embed SOX, SOC 1/SOC 2, and other regulator-mandated controls directly into CI/CD workflows - automating segregation-of-duties, change-management approvals, and continuous evidence capture.
    • Own end-to-end audit readiness by generating tamper-proof release records, maintaining immutable logs, and coordinating with compliance partners to achieve zero-findings assessments at speed.

  • Cloud Operations & SRE
    • Lead Site-Reliability Engineering practices that embed SLOs, error budgets, and automated remediation into every product team.
    • Partner with AWS architects to optimize cost, resilience, and performance, leveraging well-architected reviews and FinOps insights.

  • People & Culture
    • Recruit, retain, and inspire top tier talent, setting a bar for technical excellence, innovation, and leadership.
    • Foster a culture of experimentation, and data-driven decisions
