Title: Land Mobile Radio (LMR) & Security Systems Designer

Employment: Contract (1 year to start + option to extend)

Location: Remote

Compensation: $50-$52/hr. (+ access to Medical Benefits, PTO, 401k)

We have partnered with our client in their search for a Land Mobile Radio (LMR) & Security Systems Designer. The Land Mobile Radio (LMR) & Security Systems Designer leads the end-to-end design and delivery of integrated physical security and in-building radio coverage solutions from requirements through closeout. The role partners with clients, architects, general contractors, IT, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), and vendors to translate needs into code-compliant, buildable packages and on-time projects. Success is measured by design quality and approval rates, coverage and performance acceptance, and consistent adherence to scope, schedule, budget, and client satisfaction at closeout.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the requirements capture, design, and delivery of LMR and physical security solutions from concept through closeout
  • Build and maintain integrated project plans, budgets, and resource allocations; proactively manage risks, issues, and changes
  • Produce and peer-review security and RF design packages that meet client requirements and AHJ, NFPA, and local code expectations
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (design, construction, IT, vendors, AHJs) to achieve milestone commitments
  • Develop bills of material and oversee equipment selection, submittals, and procurement
  • Create drawings, coverage maps, and as-built documentation using iBwave, CAD, and BlueBeam
  • Facilitate weekly stakeholder meetings and deliver monthly leadership reports on schedule, budget, quality, and risk
  • Implement quality control reviews and audits; drive corrective actions and capture lessons learned

Skills Required

  • Technical depth across access control systems (ACS), security video systems (CCTV), intrusion detection, and fire alarm
  • Knowledge of land mobile radio (LMR) fundamentals and in-building public safety coverage requirements
  • Proficiency with iBwave, CAD, and BlueBeam for design development and documentation control
  • Proficiency with Smartsheet and Google Workspace for schedules, budgets, dashboards, and reporting
  • Ability to interpret and apply NFPA, life-safety, and fire codes; familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Experience reviewing and approving design packages, managing RFIs and change control, and closing out punch lists
  • Vendor and subcontractor management, including BOM development, lead-time tracking, and logistics coordination
  • Clear written and verbal communication for client updates, technical memos, and executive summaries
  • Experience mentoring peers and fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary project teams
  • Knowledge of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) principles

Education & Work Experience

  • Relevant degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, construction management, or equivalent experience
  • Work experience in physical security or low-voltage systems design and project management; experience with LMR or in-building RF design preferred
  • Certifications such as iBwave, PMP (Project Management Professional), CPP (Certified Protection Professional), or CSPM (Certified Security Project Manager) preferred
