JUNIPER NETWORK ENGINEER
Our client is seeking an experienced Juniper Network Engineer to augment their current team. The Juniper Network Engineer will support with ongoing operational demand and CMMC readiness initiatives. This role is designed to offload operational and engineering work supporting both steady-state network operations and in-flight infrastructure and security initiatives. While execution-focused, the role requires strong hands-on engineering capability within a Juniper-centric environment. In addition to day-to-day support, the Juniper Engineer will assist with implementation of CMMC-driven configuration changes and contribute to ongoing initiatives, including completion of a large-scale Juniper switching refresh and continued rollout of Cisco ISE NAC capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day operations in a Juniper-based network environment including monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance
  • Execute configuration changes within Junos-based infrastructure
  • Perform patching, firmware upgrades, and lifecycle management activities
  • Assist with implementation of CMMC-driven configuration and design updates
  • Support advanced networking functions including MPLS, VRF segmentation, VLANs, routing, and access control enforcement
  • Support SRX-based firewall functions within the Juniper environment as applicable
  • Troubleshoot Layer 2 and Layer 3 network issues, escalating as appropriate
  • Maintain documentation of configurations, changes, and operational activities


Requirements:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Juniper platforms including EX, QFX, and SRX
  • Deep expertise with Junos OS for configuration, troubleshooting, and operational support
  • Proven experience with MPLS and VRF design, implementation, and support
  • Experience with Juniper tools such as Apstra and Route Director
  • Strong understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, including routing protocols and segmentation
  • Experience supporting enterprise switching and routing environments
  • Ability to independently execute configuration changes and troubleshoot issues
  • Experience supporting lifecycle initiatives such as hardware refresh and rollout
  • Ability to operate effectively in structured, compliance-driven environments
  • Execution-focused role requiring strong independent engineering capability
  • Work performed within company-defined processes, tooling, and escalation paths
  • Vendor TAC leveraged for complex platform issues
  • Responsibilities include a mix of steady-state operations and project-based execution tied to compliance and infrastructure initiatives
  • Exposure to automation tools such as Ansible or similar frameworks preferred
  • Experience with Palo Alto firewalls nice to have
  • Experience with Cisco ISE or NAC solutions nice to have
  • Experience supporting environments aligned to CMMC, NIST 800-171, or similar frameworks is nice to have
  • Prior experience in government or government-adjacent environments is nice to have
