We have partnered with our client in their search for a Java Engineering Lead to join a large-scale financial Services technology team. This is an opportunity to lead the design and delivery of modern Java-based platforms, driving engineering excellence while remaining hands-on with architecture and development.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development and deployment of microservices-based applications.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to engineering teams, promoting software engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to define requirements and deliver scalable, high-quality solutions.
- Drive the adoption of event-driven architectures using technologies such as Kafka and MQ.
- Oversee database design and optimisation across technologies including DB2 and Cassandra.
- Ensure high standards of code quality, performance, resilience and security.
- Communicate technical strategy, risks and delivery updates to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Skills Required
- Strong Java development background with extensive Spring Boot experience.
- Proven expertise designing and delivering microservices architectures.
- Experience with eventing and messaging technologies including Kafka and MQ.
- Strong understanding of DB2, Cassandra and associated database access patterns.
- Experience leading engineering teams within complex enterprise environments.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to influence senior leadership and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
Work Experience
- Significant experience in software engineering, with recent experience leading development teams in large enterprise environments.
- Experience delivering enterprise-scale Java solutions within highly regulated or complex organisations preferred.
