Java Developer with AI experience to build, integrate, and scale intelligent applications. The ideal candidate has strong Java backend skills and hands-on experience working with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude or Cursor, as well as integrating AI/LLM capabilities into real-world systems.

You will collaborate with product, data, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality, AI-enabled solutions that are scalable, secure, and production-ready.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Java-based backend services and APIs

  • Build and integrate AI-powered features using LLMs and related services

  • Leverage AI coding tools (Claude, Cursor, or similar) to accelerate development and improve code quality

  • Integrate AI services via REST APIs, SDKs, or custom pipelines

  • Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability

  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code

  • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions

Required Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in Java (Java 8+), with solid understanding of OOP and design patterns

  • Experience with Spring / Spring Boot and RESTful API development

  • Hands-on experience integrating AI/LLM solutions into applications

  • Practical experience using Claude, Cursor, or similar AI-assisted development tools

  • Familiarity with prompt engineering and AI-assisted workflows

  • Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).

This is an initial 3 month engagement working one day a week in the client's London office paying £500/day Outside IR35
