Compensation: Up to $145K base salary + 10% bonus (upon conversion)

Overview

We have partnered with our client to identify a strategic and hands-on Finance Operations Director to lead financial planning, billing operations, and systems optimization in a growing MSP environment. This role will support the CFO and executive leadership in driving financial performance and operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Strategy

  • Support the CFO with annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
  • Partner with executive leadership on strategic growth initiatives, pricing models, and margin improvement.
  • Provide financial analysis for decisions related to acquisitions, new services, and market expansion.

Billing & Revenue Management (MSP-Specific)

  • Oversee recurring revenue billing cycles (monthly service contracts, usage-based billing, project work).
  • Ensure revenue recognition compliance, especially for bundled SaaS/MSP services.

Data, Systems & Process Improvement

  • Lead ERP/PSA system optimization (e.g., ConnectWise, NetSuite, Autotask, QuickBooks Enterprise).
  • Drive process automation for invoicing, reporting, and reconciliation.
  • Develop KPIs and dashboards to track utilization, gross margin by contract, and cash flow.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Manage and mentor finance/accounting team (billing specialists, AR/collections, staff accountants).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Service Delivery, and Billing teams.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer focus.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with tax, audit, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee external audits, banking relationships, and insurance coverage.
  • Monitor financial risk and recommend mitigation strategies.

Skills & Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and public accounting standards.
  • Financial planning & analysis (FP&A), modeling, and advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Proven stakeholder engagement and change management capabilities.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from an accredited 4-year university.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in finance operations.

Key Performance Indicators (MSP Context)

  • Accuracy and timeliness of recurring contract billing.
  • Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) and collections performance.
  • Gross margin by client and service line.
  • Forecast accuracy for revenue and cash flow.
  • Effectiveness of financial systems and reporting.
