Interim Chief Information Officer (CIO)

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Interim CIO to join our organization during a pivotal phase of growth and transformation. As an Interim CIO, you will play a critical role in driving technology initiatives, streamlining processes, and ensuring seamless operations across our technology landscape. This position is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in dynamic environments and can execute strategic projects with precision.

Responsibilities:

  1. Execution-Focused Leadership:

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute technology projects and initiatives.
    • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business goals.
    • Provide hands-on leadership to drive results.
  2. Tech Team Oversight:

    • Lead a small technology team (3-4 members) responsible for data management, Microsoft systems, POS administration, and vendor relationships.
    • Foster a collaborative and efficient work environment within the team.
  3. Stabilization and Modernization:

    • Implement a robust inventory management system, including change management processes.
    • Partner with the POS system vendor to achieve modernization and PCI compliance.
    • Advocate for data-driven decision-making, leveraging data warehousing and analytics tools (transitioning from Qlikview to Tableau).
    • Address quality issues proactively.
  4. Technology Ownership:

    • Maintain and optimize all technology tools and processes.
    • Ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of our technology infrastructure.
  5. Vendor Coordination:

    • Collaborate with third-party vendors (Helpdesk, Infrastructure, Cyber Security, D365) to ensure seamless operations.
    • Facilitate effective communication and coordination.
  6. Strategic Exit Planning:

    • Recognize the unique opportunity to contribute during this phase of the company’s growth.
    • Prepare for a potential exit within 2-3 years, leaving a lasting impact.

Qualifications:

  1. Leadership Experience:

    • Proven track record as a VP or C-level technology leader.
    • Multi-location experience required.
  2. Project Expertise:

    • Practical experience with the initiatives outlined (inventory management, POS modernization, data-driven culture).
    • Ability to roll up sleeves and lead by example.
  3. Cultural Fit:

    • Scrappy, dynamic, and action-oriented.
    • A doer who thrives in fast-paced environments.

Location: Remote with travel to CO as needed

Pay Rate: $150-$200/ hour (DOE)
