  • Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, standard daytime business hours.

  • Initial Contract: Six months, with the intention to convert to permanent employment within the first few months, subject to mutual fit.

  • Compensation: $100-$130 per hour W2 (w/ access to Medical Benefits, PTO, 401k) or able to work under consultant's own LLC if preferred.

  • Engagement: Interim assignment through Korn Ferry.

  • Reporting: Senior legal leadership within a lean, growing legal team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently lead litigation and dispute strategy, evaluating legal exposure, commercial implications, costs, and resolution options.

  • Manage commercial and contract disputes, including matters involving major vendors, construction, and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) arrangements.

  • Lead pre-litigation strategy, settlement negotiations, and other dispute-resolution efforts.

  • Select, direct, and oversee outside counsel, establishing clear priorities, managing budgets, and controlling external legal spend.

  • Apply commercial contracting experience to advise on contractual obligations, identify potential disputes, and support broader business needs.

  • Support internal investigations and advise on appropriate responses.

  • Assist with shareholder, governance, disclosure, securities, or proxy-related disputes as needed.

  • Provide clear, practical advice to legal and business stakeholders in a fast-moving, capital-intensive environment.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Strong commercial litigation background, ideally approximately 7-10 years of relevant experience, with substantive ownership of disputes and case strategy.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead litigation matters and recommend commercially sound outcomes.

  • Meaningful outside counsel management experience, including responsibility for budgets and legal costs.

  • Strong pre-litigation, settlement negotiation, and dispute-resolution experience.

  • Commercial contracting experience sufficient to support business needs beyond litigation.

  • Sound commercial judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to assess risk quickly.

  • A hands-on approach and comfort operating as the internal litigation point person within a lean legal team.

  • Ability to meet the Dallas hybrid schedule and full-time engagement requirements.

Preferred Experience

  • Prior in-house legal experience, strongly preferred.

  • Experience in construction, energy, power, infrastructure, data centers, or another capital-intensive industry.

  • Construction/EPC, procurement, or major vendor dispute experience.

  • Public-company litigation exposure, including shareholder, governance, disclosure, securities, or proxy-related matters.

  • Internal investigations experience.

Candidates interested in a potential transition to permanent employment are strongly preferred.
