We have partnered with our client in their search for a Remote Interim Senior Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Subject Matter Expert to support the design and delivery of a technical capability assessment initiative. This consultant will serve as the primary manufacturing content expert, working closely with the Lead Assessor to ensure assessment criteria, interviews, findings, and development recommendations reflect current pharmaceutical manufacturing practices.
This is a senior, part-time consulting engagement intended for an accomplished pharmaceutical manufacturing leader who can assess technical capability, contribute executive-level industry perspectives, and translate assessment observations into practical talent-development insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Lead Assessor to define the Manufacturing Technical Skills Capability Model.
- Develop competency definitions, proficiency levels, evaluation criteria, and technical interview content.
- Conduct structured technical interviews with manufacturing leaders.
- Evaluate individual capability across relevant pharmaceutical manufacturing disciplines.
- Participate in assessor calibration discussions and provide subject matter expertise to support consistent, credible ratings.
- Contribute technical observations and insights for individual assessment reports.
- Help develop practical, role-relevant development recommendations.
- Identify common manufacturing capability strengths, gaps, and emerging themes across the assessed population.
- Contribute to group-level findings and broader capability-development priorities.
- Provide executive-level perspectives on manufacturing talent, current capability requirements, and future development needs.
- Ensure technical findings and recommendations are grounded in pharmaceutical industry expectations and relevant manufacturing practices.
Required Qualifications
- Significant leadership experience within pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Experience operating in a large, complex organizational environment.
- Executive-level credibility with manufacturing leaders and other senior stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing operations and regulated manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated experience with manufacturing performance management, capability assessment, or talent evaluation.
- Experience assessing technical skills and applying competency or proficiency frameworks.
- Ability to conduct structured interviews and translate findings into clear, evidence-based observations.
- Knowledge across manufacturing disciplines such as:
- Manufacturing operations
- Operational excellence
- Regulatory manufacturing environments
- Supply chain integration
- Manufacturing technology adoption
- Site leadership
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
