Interim Litigation Counsel / Outside Counsel Management

Confidential Client

A confidential, high-growth company operating at the intersection of energy infrastructure, power generation, grid development, data centers, and artificial intelligence is seeking an experienced Interim Litigation Counsel / Outside Counsel Management Consultant to provide immediate support to its lean legal team.

This is a remote interim opportunity expected to require strong availability during Texas business hours. The initial engagement is anticipated to be approximately six months, with potential for extension based on business needs. A full-time (40 Hour Week) commitment is required.

About the Company

The company is developing next-generation energy infrastructure designed to deliver highly redundant power at gigawatt scale in support of large-scale AI infrastructure. The organization is in a fast-moving growth phase and is managing complex legal needs across litigation, corporate governance, outside counsel management, securities-related matters, commercial workstreams, and business operations.

The legal team is lean, highly active, and operating in a high-pressure environment where practical judgment, organization, responsiveness, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams are critical.

Role Overview

The Interim Litigation Counsel will help provide additional legal department bandwidth and structure around active litigation, dispute, governance-adjacent, and outside counsel workstreams. This role is not intended to replace specialist outside counsel. Instead, the consultant will help coordinate internal litigation workflow, organize facts and documents, track deadlines and deliverables, manage outside counsel communications, and provide senior legal leadership with clear visibility into matter status, priorities, and next steps.

The ideal candidate is a practical, highly organized litigation attorney who can operate with limited ramp-up time, manage urgent and sensitive matters, and provide sound business-oriented legal judgment in a lean, fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide interim litigation support to a lean and highly active legal team.
  • Manage internal litigation workflow, matter tracking, deadlines, deliverables, requests, filings, discovery items, and follow-up actions.
  • Coordinate with outside counsel on active litigation, shareholder dispute, corporate governance, and other dispute-related matters.
  • Organize facts, timelines, documents, stakeholders, legal priorities, and action items across multiple workstreams.
  • Review, synthesize, and summarize outside counsel updates, work product, recommendations, and next steps for internal legal leadership.
  • Help determine which matters require outside counsel involvement and which items can be handled or advanced internally.
  • Support legal strategy execution under the direction of legal leadership and outside counsel.
  • Assist with preservation, document collection, discovery coordination, factual development, and internal information gathering.
  • Help create or maintain litigation trackers, reporting cadence, matter workflows, and process discipline.
  • Identify and escalate litigation, governance, disclosure, reputational, business, or operational risks.
  • Partner closely with senior legal leadership, outside counsel, paralegal support, and business stakeholders.
  • Provide practical, business-oriented legal judgment in a high-growth, lightly structured environment.

Required Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar membership in good standing.
  • Strong litigation experience, either in-house, at a law firm, or in a hybrid litigation management capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience managing or coordinating with outside counsel.
  • Ability to manage litigation deadlines, discovery, filings, deliverables, internal action items, and matter workflows.
  • Strong organizational, communication, project-management, and issue-spotting skills.
  • Ability to work directly with senior legal leaders and business stakeholders.
  • Practical, risk-based legal judgment and comfort operating in a business-facing legal role.
  • Ability to work independently with limited ramp-up time.
  • Comfort supporting a lean, fast-moving, high-growth company.
  • Availability to work remotely during Texas business hours.
  • Ability to provide full-time interim support in the short term preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior in-house litigation counsel, disputes counsel, investigations counsel, or litigation management experience.
  • Experience with proxy contests, shareholder activism, securities litigation, corporate governance disputes, board-related litigation, or investor-related disputes.
  • Public company litigation or governance-related dispute experience.
  • Experience managing high-cost outside counsel teams and helping control legal workflow and spend.
  • Experience with internal investigations, special committee support, or high-sensitivity legal matters.
  • Exposure to energy, infrastructure, data centers, construction, real estate, power, project development, or related industries.
  • Experience supporting executive teams, boards, investors, or senior business stakeholders.
