The Interim HR Director will lead day-to-day HR activities, guide an established HR team, and advance several enterprise-wide initiatives while the organization evaluates its long-term leadership needs. The successful consultant will be a credible, hands-on HR executive who can quickly navigate a decentralized operating environment, coach business leaders, and balance organizational consistency with local business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership continuity and direction during an HR leadership transition.
  • Advise executives, operational leaders, and people managers on employee relations, workplace policies, compliance, and complex people matters.
  • Lead and support the organization's recently launched performance management process, centered on meaningful conversations between leaders and employees.
  • Guide the rollout and adoption of new HR policies, processes, and organizational structures.
  • Coach and develop people leaders to strengthen accountability, engagement, and management effectiveness.
  • Partner with independently managed business units to improve consistency while respecting differences in operating models and local business needs.
  • Assess the effectiveness of the organization's current and pilot HR technology platforms, including functionality, user adoption, process effectiveness, and organizational fit.
  • Provide recommendations regarding the organization's longer-term HR technology strategy.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and scale HR processes in support of continued organizational growth.
  • Mentor and support members of the existing HR team.
  • Maintain momentum on key HR initiatives while addressing day-to-day operational priorities.
  • Support change management and communication across a dispersed, operationally focused workforce.

Required Qualifications

  • Senior HR leadership experience within a mid-sized organization and a lean HR team environment.
  • Experience supporting frontline, operational, or skilled-trades employee populations.
  • Broad HR leadership expertise encompassing employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits, compliance, talent management, and organizational development.
  • Demonstrated experience guiding leaders through complex employee relations and organizational matters.
  • Experience implementing scalable HR policies, processes, or programs in a growing or evolving organization.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a decentralized or multi-business environment.
  • Strong change leadership, stakeholder management, and executive communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly establish credibility and influence stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.
  • Strategic and hands-on leadership approach, with the ability to set direction while remaining actively involved in execution.
  • High degree of integrity, sound judgment, and discretion.
  • Current authorization to work and reside in Canada.
  • Ability to work onsite at least three days per week in Saskatchewan.
