We are partnering with a tech-enabled real estate services client to help them find a Interim Head of Legal. The client generates approximately $900M in revenue and are backed by well known venture investors. The organization operates in a hybrid environment-combining startup agility with the structure of a larger enterprise.

Role Overview
Our client is seeking a hands-on, business-minded Head of Legal (title flexibility: VP/SVP/GC/CLO) to lead the legal function and support the executive team. This is a true "player-coach" role overseeing four corporate attorneys and the compliance function, while also engaging directly in contract and customer-facing legal work. This role is hybrid in Scottsdale, AZ or Chicago, IL.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of corporate attorneys; serve as key advisor to C-suite.
  • Manage customer-facing legal work and partner closely with the sales organization.
  • Oversee high-volume vendor contracting and compliance for a 1099 vendor network.
  • Support people related legal matters.
  • Provide practical, business-minded legal guidance in a fast-moving environment.
  • Roll up sleeves to handle hands-on legal work as needed.

Must Have Qualifications

  • Bar license in good standing in AZ or IL.
  • Experience as a player-coach leading and developing legal teams.
  • Strong customer-facing and commercial contracting background.
  • Experience managing high-volume vendor contracts and compliance processes.
  • Ability to operate effectively in both startup like and enterprise environments.
  • Willingness to work hybrid and meet with C-suite leaders in Scottsdale (preferred) or Chicago.

Nice to Have

  • Background in real estate or real estate services.
