Korn Ferry is conducting a confidential search for an Interim Financial Evaluation & Modeling Consultant to support the Global Business & Corporate Development function of a growing, global veterinary pharmaceuticals organization. The organization is adding contract capacity while it evaluates the longer-term structure of this capability.
The consultant will develop robust financial models, evaluate investment opportunities, and support acquisitions, licensing arrangements, strategic partnerships, and internal product-development investments. This work requires the ability to convert complex scientific, clinical, regulatory, commercial, and market information into clear financial assumptions and recommendations.
Core mandate: determine what potential products, partnerships, licensing transactions, and acquisitions are worth-and provide the analysis needed to decide whether and how the organization should invest.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Modeling & Valuation
- Build and maintain complex financial models for acquisitions, licensing agreements, co-development partnerships, and product investments.
- Partner with Commercial and Market Intelligence teams to develop revenue forecasts for strategically aligned therapeutic areas.
- Lead valuation, scenario, and sensitivity analyses using DCF, risk-adjusted NPV (rNPV), IRR, EBITDA multiples, and other relevant methodologies.
Opportunity & Portfolio Evaluation
- Evaluate external business-development opportunities, including in-licensing, strategic collaborations, M&A, and external innovation projects.
- Translate scientific, clinical, regulatory, commercial, and market information into defensible financial assumptions.
- Prepare investment cases and business cases for senior leadership and investment committees.
- Provide financial input into portfolio prioritization, capital allocation, long-range planning, and pipeline valuation.
- Conduct market and competitive analyses to inform strategic and financial decisions.
Transaction Support
- Coordinate cross-functional due diligence with Regulatory, Commercial, HR, Legal, Manufacturing, Finance, and other project stakeholders.
- Lead financial due diligence, whether performed internally or with external advisors.
- Develop deal models and assess alternative structures involving upfront payments, milestones, royalties, and other economic terms.
- Support negotiation preparation by analyzing value drivers, risks, and structuring options.
Stakeholder Communication
- Prepare concise, decision-oriented materials for senior leadership and board-level discussions.
- Explain complex modeling outputs and valuation conclusions to non-financial stakeholders.
- Collaborate across Finance, R&D, Commercial, Regulatory, and other global teams to validate assumptions and align recommendations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a closely related discipline.
- At least four years of relevant experience in corporate finance/M&A, transaction services, corporate development, investment banking, valuation, or strategic finance.
- Demonstrated hands-on ownership of complex financial models and transaction or investment evaluations.
Technical & Collaboration Capabilities
- Strong working knowledge of DCF, rNPV, IRR, EBITDA multiples, sensitivity analysis, revenue forecasting, and business-case development.
- Track record of identifying, evaluating, or supporting transactions and strategic investment opportunities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present financial conclusions to senior and non-financial stakeholders.
- Experience working across functions and geographies in a global or matrixed environment.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Corporate development, transaction, commercial-strategy, or financial-evaluation experience within animal health, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or life sciences.
- Understanding of pharmaceutical or animal-health product development, therapeutic areas, regulatory pathways, and global commercial dynamics.
- ACA, CFA, or an equivalent professional qualification.
- Experience with licensing economics, including upfront payments, development and commercial milestones, and royalty structures.
- Power BI experience.
- Experience working across North America, Europe, LATAM, and Asia-Pacific markets.
- Exposure to digital health, AI-enabled business development, or innovative go-to-market models.
Measures of Success
- Quality, accuracy, and robustness of financial models and valuation analyses.
