We have partnered with our client in the construction/services industry in their search for an Interim Controller/CFO (12+ month engagement). Please note, the role is 100% on-site Monday-Friday and requires weekly travel. Must have extensive Construction Industry and Percentage of Completion/WIP accounting experience.
Accounting & Reporting Responsibilities:
- Lead month-end close and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting.
- Oversee Percentage of Completion (POC), WIP, job costing and project accounting.
- Review project financial performance and ensure operational/job reporting ties appropriately to financial results.
- Strengthen accounting processes, reporting and internal controls.
- Support audit requirements and ensure compliance with GAAP.
Operational Finance & Process Improvement:
- Assess existing accounting processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Improve financial reporting, controls and overall accounting cadence.
- Work through legacy systems and manual processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Partner closely with operational leadership on project performance, margins and financial analysis.
Leadership Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on leadership and support to the accounting organization.
- Operate effectively at both the Controller/CFO level and in the accounting details.
- Build strong relationships across finance and operations while driving process improvements.
Skills Required:
- Extensive and recent Construction Industry experience
- Heavy Percentage of Completion (POC) / WIP accounting expertise
- Strong project/job accounting, month-end close and financial reporting experience
- Experience improving accounting processes, reporting and internal controls
- Comfortable working through legacy/manual systems and processes
- Hands-on Controller/CFO-level leadership experience
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Education & Work Experience:
- CPA and/or MBA preferred
- Significant accounting and finance leadership experience within the construction industry
- Deep POC/WIP accounting experience required
