We have partnered with our healthcare non-profit client in their search for a Controller. (Contract-to-hire)
Responsibilities
Plan, direct, and coordinate accounting and disbursement operations to support timely and accurate monthly close processes, including the preparation of internal and external financial statements.
Oversee federal and private grant accounting, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, proper fund allocation, and accurate labor and overhead reporting.
Lead external audit coordination, including year-end financial and compliance audits, while continuously assessing and improving current accounting operations and internal controls.
Lead and manage all operational accounting and disbursement functions, ensuring compliance with GAAP and maintaining accurate financial records through meticulous oversight of general ledger transactions and reconciliations.
Develop and maintain internal controls and processes that safeguard the integrity of the organization’s financial accounting systems, including payroll, accounts payable, and associated financial subsystems.
Collaborate closely with the CFO to support organizational financial objectives by overseeing financial reporting, grant accounting, and compliance activities.
Skills Required
Lead Federal and private grant accounting, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, proper fund allocation, and accurate labor and overhead reporting.
Lead external audit coordination, including year-end financial and compliance audits.
Manage accounting team of 5-7+ employees and possess strong leadership communication abilities to effectively manage & optimize accounting processes; Serve as key liaison between CFO and entire accounting dept.
Proficiency in financial databases and computerized accounting systems, with a strong preference for experience using Intacct and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Additional preference: previous experience with Stripe, PayPal, Braintree, or similar tools.
Exceptional analytical abilities, attention to detail, and time management skills, coupled with strong written and oral communication and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Education & Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience of 8+ years of professional work experience)
CPA strongly preferred

Compensation: $75-80/hr converting at $150-175k Base
