Position Overview
Our client is seeking a senior In-House Counsel, Data Privacy to support AI governance, data privacy, regulatory compliance, and technology-related legal initiatives across the organization's AI-driven financial services platforms.
This role will partner closely with executive leadership, product teams, and business stakeholders to advise on privacy, AI, and data governance matters in a fast-paced, highly innovative fintech environment.
The ideal candidate will combine deep data privacy and financial services experience with strong business judgment, product counseling capabilities, and demonstrated experience operating within AI-native legal workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on data privacy, AI governance, data usage, and regulatory compliance matters across AI-driven financial products and platforms
- Support legal review and negotiation of data-sharing agreements, vendor agreements, SaaS agreements, technology agreements, and privacy-related contractual matters
- Partner with internal stakeholders on privacy-related risk assessment, mitigation, and product counseling initiatives
- Provide guidance regarding financial services privacy obligations, consumer financial-data handling, and compliance considerations
- Assist with AI governance initiatives, data management strategies, and technology-related legal matters
- Coordinate with outside counsel and cross-functional business teams as needed
- Support development and implementation of privacy policies, governance frameworks, processes, and best practices
- Assist with incident response, privacy-related investigations, and internal compliance initiatives when applicable
- Utilize AI-native legal workflows and technology-enabled legal operations to improve efficiency and execution
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active U.S. bar membership in good standing
- 10-15 years of experience practicing data privacy, technology, regulatory, or related legal disciplines
- Significant experience supporting data privacy and compliance matters within financial services, fintech, SaaS, AI, or technology organizations
- Strong understanding of AI governance, privacy frameworks, data governance principles, and financial-services privacy considerations
- Demonstrated experience utilizing AI-native legal workflows and modern legal technology tools in legal practice
- Strong drafting, analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently within a lean, fast-paced, and highly collaborative environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior in-house counsel experience
- Product counseling or technology-transactions experience
- Experience supporting AI-enabled products or platforms
- Startup, venture-backed, or growth-stage company experience
Position Details
- Contract (3 Months to Start + Option to Extend)
- Remote
- Compensation: $125-$150anHR W2
- Commitment: 40 Hour Work Week, Monday to Friday, Standard Daytime Hours
- Reports directly to the COO & General Counsel
