Role Overview:  Our Client located in the Chicago loop is looking for a high energy, high potential HR Manager. This is a contract position for a 3-6-month contract project.  The Contract HR Manager will provide strategic development and implementation of core Human Resources processes to the designated client groups in support of the organization’s business objectives.  

Responsibilities

Business Partner 

  • Serves as a business partner to all units within the client group to determine bottlenecks, stress points, and other barriers to success and facilitate resolution.             

  • Coaches managers, team leaders and employees on effective conflict resolution and recommends corrective action, as necessary. 

  • Facilitates succession and workforce planning efforts and identifies career path opportunities. 

  • Champions cultural efforts. 

  • Provides training to assigned client group, team leaders, and managers on Human Resources related topics.                

  • Develops processes and systems to streamline administrative functions so that most energy is directed at addressing the issues that impact the business.  

  • Works in conjunction with the VP & CHRO to create and establish policies and procedures that are align with current legal and regulatory requirements as well as drive forward the integration of organizational values into work practices          . 

  • Forecasts the staffing level and skills needed then implements strategies to provide the organization with the required human resources. 

Employee Relations 

  • Manages employee relations issues by partnering with managers in developing, coaching, training, and disciplining.         

  • Institutes best practices for employee retention and satisfaction to promote positive employee morale.  

  • Mediates resolution of employee conflicts and grievances, conducts internal investigations and recommends a course of action to help managers and employees resolve issues.  

  • Manages employee separations and represents the company at mediation or court hearings. 

Recruiting and Talent Management 

  • Works directly with hiring managers throughout recruiting and hiring process to ensure high quality hires and compliance with policies and procedures. 

  • Assists managers in the development of job descriptions and recruiting requisitions. 

  • Oversees hiring process for client group including behavior-based interviewing methodologies and ensuring successful on-boarding. 

  • Oversees the performance management and employee appraisal process for the client group.   

Supervisory 

  • Provides management direction and counseling to HR team. 

  • Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates work activities of department relating to employment, compensation, employee relations and HR systems. 

  • Provides oversight of the Payroll function including payroll processing, auditing, reporting, and compliance. 

Required 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resource management, or equivalent field 
  • 5-8 years of progressive human resources experience 
  • Supervisory experience 
  • Advanced Degree and HR Certification, preferred
