A mid-career HR generalist/talent acquisition expert ready to step into a HR Leader role. You understand how manage the recruiting pipeline from beginning to end, including getting the right kinds of candidates to apply in the first place. You know where to post jobs. Experience transforming junior team members in either a production or office environment into managers using a development program you either created from scratch or executed with excellence. Since you were handling day to day HR duties and recruiting, this may not have been your primary job. But you are so good at taking care of your own direct reports that your peers seek you out to help them develop high potential employees. You love this so much you keep up with people who used to work for you and even help your friends and neighbors with career development.
You often don’t feel tenured enough for the designation, but people probably call you a mentor.
Successful use of your company’s performance management system to further your own career and the career of others You believe in the goal setting- manager review process and an annual ranking of team members.
Passion for winning and using metrics to prove it. If you’re not a competitive person, you’re not a fit.
Interest in compensation systems. You believe your company either did a good job or poor job paying for performance. You can articulate why and offer recommendations to improve.
No problem telling your boss what she doesn’t want to hear. No problem challenging peers in a staff meeting.
You know the difference between leadership and management… and you know the importance of each.
Lots of patience and high emotional intelligence. The ability and desire to work with people who will challenge you yet see you as a key contributing team member…and willingness to have fun.
You love to improve process. You establish new processes or policies and see it through.
Comfortable with Microsoft Office.
Proven your determination by completing a bachelor’s degree, and preferably your love for learning with a master’s. SPHR a plus.
