The Lucas Group is searching for a talented and enthusiastic Head of Engagement and Communications to add as a key member of our client’s team in Washington, DC. The ideal Head of Engagement and Communications candidate should be a strategic, agile and creative individual to lead and establish an industry-leading internal engagement and external communications function.

 

Our client is a global planning and design practice with a portfolio of work including some of the world’s most memorable and successful environments for developers, retailers, investors, institutions and public entities. They are currently undergoing significant organizational transformation toward the vision of becoming the world’s best creative problem-solving practice. Essential to this change is the creation of a dynamic community of engaged and empowered staff globally.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reinvent internal engagement and communications.
  • Work alongside the EVP, People & Culture and Global HR Director to define and deliver a transformational employee experience strategy that supports the firm’s vision.
  • Serve as both a visionary friend to the firm and collaborative listener in tune with the mood and needs of people around the globe.
  • Represent internal engagement and external communications on a new highly collaborative senior marketing, brand and communications leadership team, which includes the EVP, Client Development.
  • Align messaging and strategy, measure and assess success, identify opportunities for shared initiatives, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Translate business strategy and aspirations into coherent internal engagement programs and external communications interventions.
  • Influence strategy and move quickly into operational mode to execute plans.
  • Lead a team of approximately 8-10 highly skilled and creative designers, writers, photographers, videographers, PR professionals, and digital experts, as well as any external consultants as appropriate (approximately 80% of the team’s time will be spent delivering strategic internal engagement programs and 20% on external channels and campaigns in support of regional marketing strategies).
  • Progress the firm’s vision and model our core values and behaviors every day.
  • Support increased collaboration across business units globally.
  • Support marketing teams on a local office level.
  • Engage employees via internal communications tactics in regards to corporate marketing strategies and corporate initiatives.
  • Write collateral for the client’s offerings as well as draft executive communications.
  • Develop and implement communications plans to roll out new initiatives.

 

REQUIREMENTS

· BA/BS in Communications, PR, or Journalism is required. Master’s is preferred.

  • 10+ years’ experience in communications/PR for a global company is required. Agency experience is a plus.

· 10+ years' experience as an adept and inspirational communicator, a savvy user of data and insights to measure success, and a strong leader capable of elevating and demonstrating the importance of internal engagement to the wider practice.

· 5+ years of demonstrated leadership experience by managing a team or leading a team.

  • Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills required.
  • Strong professional, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Equally adept at relating to employees in the field and giving counsel to senior corporate executives.
  • Experience responding quickly and efficiently with an inherent ability to juggle multiple activities and meet deadlines.
  • Possess commercial acumen to translate big ideas into tangible results.
