We have partnered with our client in their search for a Head of Delivery.
This position will lead Agile teams in the development of business-critical applications while overseeing IT operations, infrastructure management, and service help desk functions. The role requires strong leadership in Agile software development, experience managing external development partners, and expertise in transitioning development from an onshore to an offshore managed services model. The ideal candidate will drive operational excellence, ensure efficient and high-quality project delivery, and align technology initiatives with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Software Delivery Leadership
- Lead cross-functional Agile teams comprising developers, testers, scrum masters, and business analysts to deliver high-value business applications.
- Define and implement Agile best practices (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban) to ensure efficient, high-quality software delivery.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability within the teams.
- Align technology delivery with business goals, ensuring timely and efficient execution of projects.
Operations & Infrastructure Management
- Oversee IT infrastructure management, ensuring system stability, security, and scalability.
- Implement and maintain robust DevOps practices to streamline deployment pipelines and system monitoring.
- Ensure effective management of cloud and on-premises infrastructure to optimize performance and cost efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies and regulatory requirements.
Service Help Desk & IT Support
- Lead the service help desk function, ensuring rapid issue resolution and high customer satisfaction.
- Establish and monitor SLAs for IT support, continuously improving response times and service quality.
- Drive automation and self-service initiatives to enhance service desk efficiency.
- Develop and maintain IT service continuity plans to minimize operational disruptions.
External Partner & Offshore Transition Management
- Manage relationships with external development partners, ensuring alignment with business needs and technical requirements.
- Oversee vendor performance, contract negotiations, and service-level agreements to drive value from external partnerships.
- Lead the transition of development activities from an onshore model to an offshore managed services model, ensuring minimal disruption and optimal efficiency.
- Define and implement governance frameworks to manage offshore teams effectively, ensuring quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.
- Address cultural, operational, and technical challenges in offshore transitions, ensuring smooth collaboration across global teams.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven experience in leading Agile delivery teams within a technology-driven organization.
- Experience working with external development partners and managing vendor relationships.
- Demonstrated success in transitioning development from an onshore to an offshore managed services model.
- Strong understanding of Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban) and modern software development practices.
- Experience in managing IT operations, infrastructure, and DevOps environments.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align technical strategies with business objectives.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and IT service management frameworks (ITIL) is a plus.
