We have partnered with our client in their search for a Fund Operations Specialist / Associate Manager with a Commercial Real Estate focus. This role is hybrid in Austin, TX.
Position Summary
Our client, a global financial services organization operating across public and private markets, is seeking an experienced fund operations professional to support commercial real estate investment activities. This consultant will coordinate complex operational processes, support new transactions and portfolio activity, and serve as a key liaison among portfolio management, operations, legal, compliance, accounting, tax, and third-party service providers.
The assignment requires hands-on fund operations experience, working knowledge of commercial real estate transactions, and the ability to manage detailed operational workflows in a highly collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Support daily fund operations activities associated with commercial real estate investments.
- Coordinate with servicers on drawdown requests, loan activity, holdbacks, construction loans, and other transaction-specific requirements.
- Support new deal closings and setups, including wire processing and coordination with title companies and other transaction parties.
- Serve as a liaison among portfolio managers, operations, legal, compliance, accounting, and tax teams regarding commercial real estate matters.
- Interact with and provide operational oversight of outsourced settlement providers, compliance agents, trustees, and other third-party partners.
- Review models prepared by compliance agents or trustees for consistency with applicable indenture requirements.
- Assist portfolio managers with hypothetical trading analyses to determine asset eligibility based on transaction size, concentration limits, and other portfolio requirements.
- Work with portfolio managers to adjust proposed asset allocations when necessary.
- Track portfolio and asset attributes associated with investment views and indenture requirements.
- Coordinate and oversee warehouse facilities and commercial real estate deal closings.
- Work closely with portfolio managers, underwriters, placement agents, and other stakeholders in preparation for closing dates.
- Oversee daily asset, position, and cash reconciliations.
- Coordinate ongoing attribute reconciliations with the middle office, compliance agents, and trustees.
- Help ensure trades settle into the appropriate cash accounts, including ramp-up and principal accounts.
- Review monthly and quarterly trustee reporting.
- Participate in due diligence meetings supporting the marketing of structured commercial real estate investment products.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Three to five years of fund operations experience within financial services or alternative investments.
- At least one to two years of commercial real estate experience.
- Direct experience supporting commercial real estate transactions, including deal closings, drawdowns, servicing activity, holdbacks, construction loans, or related operational processes.
- Experience working with portfolio managers, trustees, servicers, settlement providers, compliance teams, and other investment operations stakeholders.
- Knowledge of asset, position, and cash reconciliation processes.
- Ability to interpret transaction documentation, indenture requirements, concentration limits, and asset eligibility criteria.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Experience using SQL or other database query tools.
- Experience using Bloomberg.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple transaction-related priorities and communicate effectively across functional teams and external service providers.
