Junior Full Stack Software Engineer (Contract-to-Hire)
Position Overview
We are seeking a Junior Full Stack Software Engineer who is passionate about technology, enjoys solving problems, and is excited about leveraging AI-assisted development tools to deliver business value.
This role will initially focus on supporting and maintaining a portfolio of legacy applications acquired through a recent business acquisition. These applications are primarily built with PHP, Angular, AWS, .NET, TypeScript, Node.js, and MySQL and require ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor enhancements through the remainder of the year. Over time, the engineer will transition into supporting and building solutions within the organization's modern technology stack, including GCP serverless architectures, Node.js, React, and AI-enabled development workflows.
This is an excellent opportunity for a junior engineer looking to broaden their technical exposure, work across multiple technologies, and gain hands-on experience with modern cloud and AI-driven software development practices.
What You'll Do

- Develop and deploy small enhancements, patches, bug fixes, and updates to business-critical systems
- Use AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor and similar technologies to improve productivity and code quality
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to understand application functionality and requirements
- Participate in the gradual modernization and migration of applications to the organization's future-state technology stack
- Build and support solutions utilizing:
- React
- Node.js
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

- Contribute to software design discussions, code reviews, testing, and documentation
- Participate in an on-call rotation providing occasional weekend and holiday support for critical production applications
Required Qualifications

- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Understanding of relational databases such as MySQL
- Familiarity with TypeScript and modern web application development practices
- Passion for learning new technologies and solving complex technical problems
- Interest in AI and how it can improve software engineering workflows
- Willingness to support both legacy and modern application environments
- Ability to participate in an on-call support rotation, including occasional weekends and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Cursor or other AI-powered developer productivity tools
- Exposure to agentic AI workflows, AI development platforms, or AI-assisted coding tools
- Experience building AI-enabled applications, chatbots, copilots, or intelligent software features

- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native development practices
What We're Looking For

- Collaborative team player with strong communication skills
- Someone who values continuous improvement and enjoys tackling new challenges
Team Environment
- Join a collaborative engineering organization with a team of 8+ developers
- Work alongside experienced engineering leaders and technical mentors
- Gain exposure to both application maintenance and greenfield development initiatives
- Opportunity to grow into a larger role as modernization efforts continue
