FRACTIONAL IT DIRECTOR
Our client is seeking an experienced, business-facing IT Director to oversee IT systems, infrastructure, ERP optimization, and vendor oversight across a multi-location environment. This role will serve as the primary liaison between the business, external IT partners, and internal stakeholders, with a focus on stabilizing systems, improving connectivity, supporting ERP relaunch and adoption, and reducing operational risk. The ideal candidate will be comfortable being to go-to IT Leader and must have strong Sage X3 ERP experience, infrastructure leadership, vendor management skills, and the ability to assess a fragmented IT environment and help define what "good" looks like. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are required.
Responsibilities
- Lead IT strategy and day-to-day technology priorities in alignment with business needs.
- Assess current systems, infrastructure, stakeholder needs, and operational risks.
- Oversee the reset, relaunch, and optimization of Sage X3 ERP.
- Improve ERP reporting, data visibility, system usage, and end-user adoption.
- Support future ERP planning, including potential SAP/S/4HANA needs.
- Manage IT infrastructure across five locations, including networks, connectivity, devices, email, servers, VPN, LAN/WAN, and end-user support.
- Oversee external IT support partners, which include help desk, infrastructure, ERP, asset management and systems support.
- Act as a "traffic cop" for IT priorities, vendor resources, escalations, and business requests.
- Partner with bakery and business teams on ERP training, process improvement, and reporting adoption.
- Reduce technology risk and help prevent system outages, shutdowns, and business disruption.
- Establish practical IT governance around access, change management, vendor performance, data integrity, and business continuity.
- Communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders and advise leaders on system capabilities, gaps, and priorities.
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience.
- Strong experience with Sage X3 ERP required.
- Experience with ERP resets, upgrades, relaunches, migrations, or optimization projects.
- Experience managing IT infrastructure, systems operations, help desk, and enterprise applications.
- Experience managing external IT vendors or managed services providers.
- Strong business acumen and ability to prioritize technology investments and resources.
- Ability to assess current-state systems and recommend practical improvements.
- Experience supporting multi-site operations; manufacturing, bakery, food production, CPG, or distribution experience preferred.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and executive presence.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Systems Development, Business, or related field required; master's degree preferred.
- SAP or SAP S/4HANA exposure nice to have.
- Experience training operational users on ERP systems.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, Microsoft environments, virtualization, network infrastructure, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
- Travel to bakery and company locations required.
