Company Overview

Korn Ferry has partnered with a private equity-backed manufacturer of transportation-related products with operations in Texas and Mexico. Following a recent investment, company leadership identified an opportunity to strengthen the organization's financial planning and analysis capabilities and improve the use of available financial and operational data.

The business has substantial data available through its ERP system, internally developed reporting portals, and dashboards. Leadership is seeking an experienced FP&A professional who can bring greater consistency, financial rigor, and analytical depth to the function while translating data into actionable business recommendations.

Position Summary

The FP&A Lead will work closely with finance, accounting, operations, executive leadership, and private equity stakeholders to elevate the company's planning, reporting, and performance-analysis capabilities.

This is a hands-on interim role requiring strong manufacturing FP&A experience and a deep understanding of cost accounting, standard costing, margin analysis, and operational performance drivers. The consultant will assess performance across the P&L and manufacturing operation, develop more meaningful reporting and analysis, and provide insights that improve financial visibility and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strengthen the consistency, sophistication, and analytical rigor of the FP&A function.
  • Analyze company performance across the P&L, account-level trends, operational metrics, and manufacturing KPIs.
  • Evaluate standard-cost trends, manufacturing cost drivers, margin performance, and the operational factors affecting profitability.
  • Partner with leadership to create clearer visibility into financial performance, emerging trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Develop and enhance management reporting and analytics for executive leadership and private equity stakeholders.
  • Leverage existing financial and operational data to identify patterns, explain performance, and recommend practical business actions.
  • Work closely with accounting and operations to connect financial results with manufacturing activity and operating decisions.
  • Establish repeatable reporting and analytical practices that can continue supporting the organization beyond the interim engagement.

Technology and Data Environment

  • ERP: Epicor
  • Internally developed reporting portals and dashboards
  • Significant financial and operational data available for analysis
  • Opportunity to improve how existing information is converted into financial insights and business recommendations

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated manufacturing FP&A experience; this is a mandatory requirement.
  • Deep, hands-on understanding of cost accounting, standard costing, margin analysis, and manufacturing KPIs.
  • Experience analyzing P&L performance and connecting financial results to operational and manufacturing drivers.
  • Ability to conduct detailed account-level trend analysis and develop defensible business conclusions from available data.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and business-partnering capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively across accounting, operations, and executive leadership.
  • Hands-on orientation and the judgment to bring structure and rigor to an evolving FP&A environment.
  • Ability and willingness to work onsite in the Northeast Texas/Brookston area during standard local business hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting a private equity-backed manufacturing business.
  • Experience presenting analysis and recommendations to private equity sponsors or senior executive stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Epicor or a comparable manufacturing ERP.
  • Experience improving or building FP&A reporting, analytics, and operating rhythms within a company undergoing change or investment-led value creation.
  • Experience translating complex operational data into clear financial insights and actionable recommendations.

Qualified consultants operating through their own LLC may also be considered.
