Korn Ferry is seeking an experienced FP&A Consultant for a six-month interim engagement with a mid-sized business information, digital media, and marketing services company. The consultant will provide hands-on financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and decision support while working directly with the company's Chief Financial Officer.

About the Company

Our client is a New York-based business information and media organization serving professionals across several specialized industries. The company provides subscription-based content, market research, actionable data, live events, executive networking opportunities, and B2B marketing services. The organization has approximately 160-170 employees.

Position Overview

A recently appointed CFO is strengthening the finance organization and needs an experienced FP&A professional who can quickly provide dependable, hands-on support. The consultant will maintain core planning and reporting activities, improve visibility into business performance, and provide financial insights to the CFO and functional leaders.

This is an individual-contributor position with no direct reports. The consultant will work within a finance team of approximately four to six people and must be comfortable operating at a Manager or Director level while remaining closely involved in detailed analysis, financial models, forecasts, and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Support annual budgeting and periodic reforecasting processes.
  • Review actual financial results and analyze performance against budget and forecast.
  • Identify and clearly explain material variances and underlying business drivers.
  • Evaluate revenue, operating expense, headcount, and profitability trends.
  • Track financial and operational KPIs and identify meaningful risks or opportunities.
  • Develop management reporting packages and dashboards.
  • Build financial models and scenario analyses to evaluate investments, costs, staffing decisions, and strategic initiatives.
  • Partner with functional leaders to provide financial insight and support business decisions.
  • Complete ad hoc financial and strategic analyses based on evolving CFO priorities.

Required Qualifications

  • 7-10+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate at the Manager or Director level while personally producing detailed FP&A deliverables.
  • Direct professional experience within media or information services.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities.
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, trend analysis, and management reporting experience.
  • Experience working with ERP and financial planning systems and analyzing information from multiple data sources.
  • Strong accounting fundamentals and an understanding of the relationships among operating activity, financial statements, and cash flow.
  • Strong executive communication, business-partnering, and strategic-thinking capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently, establish credibility quickly, and deliver accurate analysis in an evolving environment.
  • Availability during normal Eastern Time business hours and flexibility to attend occasional onsite meetings in New York City.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within digital media, advertising, marketing services, or a subscription-based information business.
  • Experience creating executive dashboards and data visualizations.
  • Previous success in an interim or consulting engagement requiring a rapid ramp-up.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, or a related discipline.
