Our client is seeking a highly experienced Fleet & Asset Management Consultant to lead the RFP and replacement of a legacy, highly customized system with a modern, industry-standard solution in addition to redesigning core business processes. You will play a critical role in assessing the current state, defining future-state processes/procedures/best practices, guide vendor selection and implementation strategy for one of the largest parts of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a business process expert (not just IT), understanding the broader ecosystem of a growing multi-billion-dollar organization
- Conduct a rapid, comprehensive assessment of the current fleet and asset management environment
- Redesign and standardize fleet and asset management processes aligned with industry best practices
- Develop and deliver a clear 30-60-90 day plan and overall transformation roadmap
- Provide hands-on guidance to internal teams throughout the evaluation and selection process
- Act as a senior advisor to leadership, ensuring confidence in direction and decision-making
- Support the organization on a fractional or advisory basis through RFP and early implementation phases
- Focus on optimizing operations across fleet, tools, and equipment-the company's largest expense category
- Develop a clear future-state operating model for fleet and asset management
- Map and document end-to-end fleet management workflows, including Fleet utilization and repositioning, tooling and equipment tracking on vehicles, yard inventory and consumables management, technician routing and logistics coordination
- Identify inefficiencies and recommend scalable, standardized processes
- Lead the RFP process to replace the current system
- Define detailed business and technical requirements for a modern EAM/fleet solution
- Identify and assist in the evaluation technology vendors and implementation partners
- Facilitate vendor demos, scoring, and selection in collaboration with internal stakeholders
- Advise leadership on best-fit solutions aligned to business needs and industry standards
- Ensure alignment and integration with ERP systems and downstream data platforms
Requirements
- Proven experience leading multiple Fleet Management system implementations end-to-end
- Deep expertise in fleet management operations, ideally in logistics-heavy or asset-intensive environments
- Strong understanding of enterprise asset management platforms and industry-standard solutions
- Demonstrated ability to lead RFP processes, vendor evaluations, and technology selection
- Experience working in large, complex organizations ($2B+ revenue preferred)
- Ability to bridge business process and technology, translating operational needs into system requirements
- Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills
- Experience with leased fleet environments desired
- Background in logistics, utilities, infrastructure, construction, or field service organizations preferred
- Familiarity with ERP integrations and data architecture considerations
- Experience replacing legacy, highly customized systems with standardized platforms
- Clear understanding of current-state gaps and inefficiencies
- A practical, executable roadmap for implementation
