Title: Financial Analyst (CPA Required)

Location: Remote w/ possible travel

Client Industry: Professional Services/Financial Services

Compensation: $50 - $65/hr.

We have partnered with our client in their search for a Financial Analyst. The Financial Analyst provides accounting advisory and financial reporting support across U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings, technical accounting, and financial analysis. This role partners with client controllership and finance teams, deal teams, and internal engagement leaders to deliver compliant reporting and practical insights. Success is measured by timely, accurate filings and analyses, well-supported accounting conclusions, and effective management of engagement deliverables and junior staff support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accounting advisory support to clients, including implementation assistance with new accounting standards
  • Support SEC regulatory filings for spin-offs, carve-outs, initial public offerings (IPO), debt offerings, and acquisition-related filings for domestic and cross-border transactions
  • Perform U.S. GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) conversion support for U.S. and foreign registrants
  • Deliver transaction-oriented accounting and reporting support for mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, complex financing structures, financial instruments, revenue recognition, and fresh-start accounting for emergence from bankruptcy
  • Prepare and present accounting findings, technical conclusions, and client-ready materials that document key judgments and recommendations
  • Conduct financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and forecasting, to support business planning and decision-making
  • Build and maintain financial models, dashboards, and management presentations for stakeholders, highlighting key drivers and recommendations
  • Manage engagement execution by tracking deliverables, monitoring engagement metrics, and coaching junior staff as assigned

Skills Required

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge in U.S. GAAP; ability to research, interpret, and document conclusions
  • Knowledge of SEC reporting requirements and transaction-related filings under tight deadlines
  • Working knowledge of IFRS and common U.S. GAAP-to-IFRS reporting differences
  • Experience with financial reporting processes, consolidations, and financial statement preparation (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow)
  • Proficiency in variance, trend, and sensitivity analysis to explain performance drivers
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (complex formulas, pivots, data analysis) and comfort with financial systems/tools
  • Financial modeling capability to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning
  • Ability to synthesize complex financial data into clear presentations for management and stakeholders
  • Project management skills to manage multiple workstreams and ensure accuracy and completeness of inputs
  • Demonstrated professional ethics, integrity, and accountability in a client-service environment

Education & Work Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or CPA-equivalent credential required
  • Recent financial audit experience with a public accounting or advisory firm, or 5+ years of recent financial reporting and consolidations experience with a Fortune 500 organization
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required
