Interim Finance Transformation - Driver-Based Planning
Objective
Our Korn Ferry Client is seeking a senior finance transformation consultant who has personally led or materially contributed to a full driver-based planning implementation in a bank or complex financial services organization, from initial driver-tree design through deployment and adoption.
This role is focused on designing the future-state planning and forecasting model, not simply selecting or configuring a tool. The consultant will help translate strategy into action as the client moves from planning into execution.
Core Focus
- End-to-end driver-based planning experience within a banking or regulated financial services environment
- Direct experience building driver trees, including:
- Identification of controllable vs. non-controllable drivers
- Alignment of business inputs across products, balances, volumes, rates, and headcount
- Translation of drivers into usable forecasting, budgeting, and scenario models
- Experience supporting organizations that are redesigning forecasting disciplines, moving away from decentralized, spreadsheet based processes toward integrated, scalable planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on and help construct the driver-based planning framework and driver tree, serving as a practical design authority.
- Pressure testclients' future-state forecasting approach, ensuring it supports:
- Greater precision and granularity
- Scenario and sensitivity modeling
- Executive and management decision?making
- Partner with Finance and Data stakeholders to ensure the planning model is grounded in a sound finance data foundation, including:
- Alignment on definitions, sources, and ownership
- Awareness of SOX and control implications
- Provide informed input into build vs. buy decisions (e.g., EPM platforms such as Oracle EPM), without serving as a tool biased implementer.
- Contribute to the go-forward roadmap, including sequencing, phasing, quick wins, and realistic timelines.
Supporting / Adjacent Experience
- Background in finance data transformation, EPM readiness, or FP&A transformation strongly preferred.
- Experience working in environments with fragmented data ecosystems and helping design central finance data models and governance structures.
- Prior consulting experience or interim advisory roles in large scale finance transformations.
- Comfort operating in early stage transformation efforts where direction is being shaped and decisions are under time pressure.
