JOB TITLE: Executive Director

DEPARTMENT: Purchasing

LOCATION: Harrisburg, PA

The purpose of this position is to provide tactical and strategic leadership in achieving the company’s inventory metrics and fill-rate requirements t to support monthly sales and working capital goals. Will lead a diverse team of professionals to achieve and exceed goals that drive financial business results. Will ensure the purchasing team is working collaboratively with cross functional teams including; vendor management, marketing and sales to deliver value to our vendor partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Executive ownership for achieving company’s purchasing KPI’s including; days-on-hand, aged inventory and fill rate metrics.
  • Ensure the training and development of all members of the purchasing team to create, develop and foster a high performance culture.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship within the department to successfully negotiate and execute purchase orders as needed to support product needs and maximize company profitability.
  • Maintain and build strong relationships with vendor partners.
  • Oversee the negotiation of better pricing, back-end rebates, payment terms, freight terms and return privileges.
  • Assess, manage and mitigate risks including the negotiation of price protection and return privileges with vendors.
  • Ensure the purchasing department is aligned to vendor management, sales and marketing strategies.
  • Develop strong coordination with Sales in the review and analysis of customer sales forecasts to ensure optimal inventory levels are maintained.
  • Review all new vendor contracts to ensure terms are aligned to company financial goals.
  • Deliver objective insights and solutions that ensure adequate inventory levels in all warehouses to operate optimally.
  • Ensure that the company is providing differentiated value to our vendor partners and we are easy to do business with.
  • Direct efforts to improve supply chain efficiency, ensure first to market and reduce costs.
  • Work with PMO to identify workflow improvement strategies and execute in a timely fashion.
  • Works with company leadership to define priorities and objectives, specific to key vendor KPIs
  • Oversee the buy-to-pay process that also includes assisting accounts payable in troubleshooting payment of invoices
  • Interact with the warehouses and vendors about shipping problems, overages, etc.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Keeps work area neat, clean and hazard free.
  • Must work in other areas, as needed for cross training and/or workload.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position will have Purchasing Managers and key Product Managers as Direct reports.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in related field, Master’s Degree preferred or equivalent in experience required in Category Management, Insights and Sales Strategy, and leading teams
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant and technical experience, preferably with significant exposure to IT, and relevant degree
  • Substantial purchasing experience at a senior and strategic level, preferably in the area of large and complex Information Technology solutions
  • Strong background in procurement, marketing, or sales
  • Relevant professional qualifications a significant advantage
  • Strong analytical/data interpretation, Problem Solving, Strategic Influencing, and cross-functional leadership
  • Proven people management experience leading a team and coaching and developing others
  • A change agent who possesses a creative thought process to tackle old and emerging issues with a fresh, new approach
  • Strategic approach to solving business issues or uncovering opportunities
  • Evaluates business situations and proposes well thought-out solutions
  • Strong leadership, change management and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, proven ability to effectively and credibly manage relationship with technical and non-technical personnel at multiple organization levels
  • Team-orientation with proven track record of working in highly cross-functional and complex environments
  • Ability to drive innovation, initiate continuous improvement and be a recognized change champion
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Web based applications
  • Ability to interact professionally with external and internal customers

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Fulltime position (40 hours a week), Overtime, Weekends, Holidays, as required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and/or complete employment forms.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formats.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach with arms, talk and hear. The employee will frequently be required to stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is seated in a cubicle environment and is exposed to fluorescent lighting, background noise, and computer monitors.
