Lucas Group has partnered with a dynamic growing Roofing company on the West side of Atlanta in need of an Estimator.
This is a contract to Direct Hire position for the right candidate.
The Estimator will be preparing accurate, timely estimates and proposals. In producing accurate and timely estimates, the Estimator will review plans and specifications, clarify conditions and requirements with customers, understand basic components of construction costs, prepare basic take-offs, prepare standard limited lump sum proposals and in certain circumstances follow up with the customer on status of proposal.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing and scheduling work and preparing bids
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals and other documentation to prepare time, cost and labor estimates for products, projects or services
- Must know how to interpret and comprehend bid specification documents
- Log in jobs and preserve statistical information in CRM
- Provide clear basic take-offs of plans for bidding
- Understand, in detail, scope of work, contractual terms and conditions
- Create complete and accurate Bid File to turn over to the Project Manager
- Assemble accurate and well-organized estimates and proposals in a timely manner
- Collaborate with Sales and Project Mangers to discuss options for proposed services
- Remain abreast of design requirements, codes and materials
- Consult with clients, vendors or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
- Apply knowledge of metal roof systems, materials, construction processes and theories
- Understand complex problems and make decisions to benefit everyone as much as possible
Key Measures of success include:
- High repeat orders / High net promoter score from customers
- Prepare 200 to 300 proposals per year
- High support for 25% close ratio
- Maintain 72 hour turn around on proposals
- Accuracy of job cost estimates by 2% better actual gross margin compared to estimated gross margin
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a general contractor or subcontractor construction company
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in estimating in the commercial roofing industry, Metal Roofing Systems preferred
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Knowledge of Commercial Roofing Systems (Metal Systems preferred)
- Knowledge of construction business practices
- Familiarity with IBC and local building codes
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to learn and utilize technology (i-Roofing, Google Earth, Microsoft CRM)
- Ability to communicate at numerous levels internal and external to the company
- Excellence in oral and written communication in English
