Position Overview

A leading global financial institution is seeking a Senior Murex Production Support Engineer to support its Front Office Equity Derivatives trading desk.

This individual will serve as the first and second line of defense for production stability across the Murex MX.3 platform. The engineer will provide hands-on support for user inquiries, trade-capture issues, pricing discrepancies, missing or inaccurate risk views, market-data problems, workflow failures, application-performance issues, batch failures, and system incidents.

The position requires a proactive production-support professional who can quickly assess business impact, perform technical diagnostics, communicate effectively with Front Office users, and maintain ownership of incidents through resolution. The engineer will work closely with Level 3 support, infrastructure, middleware, database, release-management teams, and the Murex vendor.

Key Responsibilities

Front Office Production Support

  • Provide first- and second-line technical production support for the Murex MX.3 Equity Derivatives environment.
  • Support traders and other Front Office users with trade booking, pricing, risk, sensitivities, market data, workflows, and system-performance issues.
  • Own incidents from initial identification and triage through impact assessment, escalation, resolution, root-cause analysis, and post-incident remediation.
  • Classify incidents by severity, business impact, and functional area, including pricing, risk, market data, interfaces, and trade booking.
  • Perform initial technical diagnostics and capture supporting evidence such as logs, traces, configuration details, and data snapshots.
  • Investigate pricing inconsistencies, missing risk or sensitivity results, trade-enrichment failures, workflow issues, interface latency, and upstream or downstream processing failures.

Monitoring and Technical Troubleshooting

  • Monitor application logs, batch processes, job schedulers, real-time feeds, Murex services, and integration dashboards.
  • Design, implement, and enhance proactive monitoring and alerting for critical production processes.
  • Diagnose user slowness and application-performance issues through analysis of Murex platform behavior, services, and logs.
  • Troubleshoot Murex end-of-day process families and EOD job-related failures.
  • Identify recurring production issues and recommend technical or operational improvements.
  • Develop or enhance automation for health checks, monitoring, diagnostics, and repeatable production-support activities.

Vendor and Case Management

  • Create, manage, and track Murex vendor cases using Pega or a comparable case-management platform.
  • Provide clear problem statements, reproduction steps, configuration details, logs, and environmental information.
  • Coordinate functional and technical reviews of vendor findings, recommendations, fixes, and patches.
  • Validate proposed vendor solutions and patches in lower environments before production deployment.
  • Maintain case ownership through resolution and closure.

Environment and Change Coordination

  • Support controlled production changes, emergency fixes, application releases, and scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Perform pre-deployment and post-deployment validation of pricing, risk, trade processing, workflows, interfaces, and Murex services.
  • Coordinate with infrastructure, middleware, database, development, and release-management teams to support stable deployments.
  • Ensure that production changes comply with established incident, problem, and change-management procedures.

Documentation and Continuous Improvement

  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures, runbooks, troubleshooting guides, technical procedures, and incident knowledge bases.
  • Document recurring issues, known errors, root causes, workarounds, and resolution patterns.
  • Contribute to initiatives focused on system resilience, operational efficiency, proactive monitoring, and reduction of repeat incidents.

Required Qualifications

  • At least five years of experience supporting Front Office trading technology in an investment-banking, capital-markets, or comparable trading environment.
  • At least three years of hands-on experience supporting Murex MX.3 is strongly preferred.
  • Direct experience providing production or application support for Front Office users.

    • RTBS
    • MDRS
    • MDIT
    • Volatility, repo, and dividend market-data flows
  • Strong understanding of Murex orchestration, services, process flows, and application behavior.
  • Experience analyzing Murex logs and troubleshooting system slowness, application-performance issues, and production failures.
  • Understanding of Murex EOD process families and experience resolving EOD or batch-job issues.
  • Strong Unix or Linux troubleshooting skills, particularly log-based investigation.
  • Hands-on scripting or automation experience using Unix shell, Python, or a comparable technology.
  • Strong SQL experience with Sybase, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or a comparable relational database.
  • Experience with pricing or integration APIs, including REST APIs or GraphQL. Experience with the Murex Indicative Pricing API is preferred.
  • Strong incident-triage, root-cause-analysis, problem-management, and change-management experience.
  • Ability to independently prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure Front Office environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Willingness and ability to work onsite in New York City under a hybrid schedule and participate in an on-call rotation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience implementing or supporting monitoring and observability tools such as ITRS, Splunk, Dynatrace, Datadog, or telemetry platforms.
  • Experience with enterprise job schedulers such as AutoSys, Control-M, or Tidal.
  • Experience with ServiceNow or a comparable incident, problem, and change-management platform.
  • Experience developing automated health checks, alerts, dashboards, or production-support utilities.
  • Broader exposure to cross-asset derivatives and complex end-to-end trading workflows.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a hands-on Murex production-support engineer who has directly supported a Front Office derivatives trading environment. This person should be comfortable interacting with traders, investigating complex pricing and risk issues, analyzing Murex and Linux logs, troubleshooting market-data and workflow failures, and coordinating multiple technical teams.

This is not primarily a Murex business-analysis, implementation, testing, or development position. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong production judgment, technical troubleshooting ability, incident ownership, stakeholder communication, and the ability to operate effectively during high-impact trading-system incidents.
