Location: Dallas, TX
Job Purpose:
Plans and directs all design engineers, drafters, technical engineers and support organizations working on specific projects. Manages the development, implementation, and evaluation of complex designs. Oversees product construction and testing in order to ensure completion of projects as efficiently and effectively as possible. Evaluates and approves changes that substantially impact the scope, budget, or schedule of a project. Monitors progress and performance against the project plan.
Requirements:
- Minimum requirement B.S. in engineering (preferred Mechanical or Electrical).
- PMP certification required.
- Must be able to manage multiple project/activities concurrently.
- Experience in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) is strongly preferred.
- 3-5 years engineering management experience required.
- MS Office (Project, Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint) proficiency required.
Environment:
- Air conditioned office environment. Some non-air-conditioned work in factory.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage new product development projects through entire project lifecycle. Follow and maintain project schedule and documentation through established phase gated development process.
- New product development includes new products as well as current product extensions for new customers.
- Will manage projects through cross functional teams including engineering, production, supply chain, and sales.
- Reports to management on project tracking/status on regular basis.
- Helps to establish company priorities on project development and resource management.
- Provides input on budget with regards to project expense and start of production.
- Is knowledgeable on company processes including manufacturing capabilities.
- Will work to resolve issues during development or will escalate to management.
- Responsible for on-time project completion.
