Job Description
The EHS Manager is responsible for leading the environmental, health, and safety functions and implementing the Safety Management System (SMS) to ensure a safe and healthy workplace. This role’s focus is to ensure the effective management of all EHS systems while maintaining a safe workplace and compliance with applicable EHS regulations.
Major Responsibilities
-Managing implementation and maintenance of the Safety Management System and all associated programs, procedures, audits and reporting requirements
-Tracking injured employees (in conjunction with management and HR) and their medical rehabilitation as well as developing appropriate light duty assignments in accordance with the Return to Work and Transitional Duty policies
-Working with Corporate and other facilities to develop and present all safety related programs for all employees
-Coordinating the enforcement of all company safety rules and ensuring disciplinary processes are followed for non-compliance
-Leading the management of the Worker's Safety Compensation program
-Overseeing all safety committees/teams to ensure appropriate budgets, records, and files are adhered to and maintained
-Maintaining current, accurate records and files to ensure all regulatory and organizational requirements are met including postings and distributions
-Chairing facility’s First Responders and Safety Team
-Ensuring periodic workplace and equipment inspections are conducted and documented
-Coordinating with outside agency services for health, safety, training, education, resources, and government compliance regulations
Required Skills, Experience, Education & Certifications
Items listed are required unless “preferred” is indicated
Bachelor’s degree in a safety, science, or engineering field required
Certification(s) in safety or safety related field preferred
3 - 5 years of progressive responsibility for safety in a manufacturing environment
Proficient level of expertise in MS Office Suite (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Outlook/etc.)
A thorough understanding of manufacturing processes and hazards
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written, oral, and inter-personal
Ability to multi-task, work independently and employ effective time management skills
Knowledge of manufacturing safety standards, procedures, and documentation
Knowledge of Workers Compensation laws
Knowledge of CALOSHA standards, procedures, and documentation preferred
Spanish bilingual preferred
