We have partnered with our client, a leading financial services organisation, in their search for a Senior Data Architect to support enterprise data warehouse delivery across large-scale regulatory and business-critical data initiatives. This is a hands-on architecture role, combining solution design, data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and technical delivery support within a complex banking data environment.
Responsibilities
- Own and lead data architecture design across enterprise data warehouse initiatives, ensuring scalable, secure, and compliant solutions.
- Analyse source systems, data flows, business requirements, and downstream consumption needs to define optimal data solutions.
- Perform hands-on SQL analysis, data investigation, solution validation, and issue resolution within a Teradata environment.
- Produce architecture artefacts including High Level Designs, Architecture Decision Records, solution options, risks, assumptions, and governance documentation.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, engineers, testers, delivery teams, and architecture forums to drive solution delivery and alignment.
- Embed data governance, lineage, reconciliation, auditability, metadata management, and regulatory controls into solution design.
- Support delivery teams through build, testing, implementation, and production issue resolution.
Skills Required
- Strong hands-on Teradata experience, including complex SQL querying, data investigation, technical validation, and enterprise data warehouse delivery.
- Proven experience designing enterprise data warehouses, data marts, data integration solutions, and large-scale data platforms.
- Strong data modelling, data analysis, source-to-target mapping, and data architecture expertise.
- Experience working within banking, financial services, or regulatory data environments.
- Knowledge of regulatory data requirements including BCBS239, RDARR, data traceability, auditability, controls, reconciliation, and regulatory reporting.
- Experience with financial services data models, including Teradata Financial Services Data Model or similar banking frameworks.
- Working knowledge of ETL tools such as Informatica and/or DataStage.
- Experience with metadata-driven ingestion, transformation, control, and reconciliation frameworks.
- Knowledge of Control-M or similar scheduling and orchestration tools.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with experience presenting solutions to architecture boards, governance forums, and senior business stakeholders.
- Understanding of data governance, lineage, data quality, privacy, operational resilience, and data observability principles.
Education & Work Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years' experience in Data Architecture, or as a senior Data Engineering Lead with demonstrable architecture ownership and delivery accountability.
- Track record delivering enterprise data warehouse and regulatory data solutions within financial services environments.
