Our client is a global organization that does couplings, hydraulic components, and power transmission products. We are seeking a Distribution Manager to join their location in the Naperville area. Our client is a multi-billion dollar global company. This is a very important role for the company as this person will directly manage a team of 30 and the Distribution Manager will report to the President of the organization.
Distribution Manager Responsibilities
- Supervise a team of 30 full time and temporary employees within receiving, order filling, shipping, transportation, and inventory.
- Ensure all deliveries of parts to customers are on-time.
- Develop processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all jobs functions within the department.
- Evaluation and creation of key performance indicators (KPIs) to asses department and individual performance.
- Actively participate in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Six Sigma projects.
- Oversee performance management of the staff. This includes reviews of performance, promotions, transfers, disciplinary actions, and discharges in accordance with company policies.
- Coordinate with freight carriers of scheduling of pickups and the tracking of shipments. Communicate with the freight carriers to ensure a strong, professional business relationship.
- Oversee the employee scheduling and order schedules to ensure all work is assigned correctly to deliver orders on-time and with maximum efficiency.
- Train employees on forklift operation, the company safety program, departmental rules, and all relevant processes to be able to perform to expectations.
Distribution Manager Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience as a Manager in a Distribution or Warehouse environment is required.
- At least 5-10 years of experience in a Warehouse or Distribution environment.
- Previous experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other relevant process improvement methodologies is preferred.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing site is preferred but not required.
