Our client is a multi-billion dollar industry leader in providing services and products to companies to help employees and their facilities stay safe & clean. We are retained by them on a Distribution Center Manager role for their facility near Midway Airport. This is a very important position for the company as it is their only Distribution Center for this particular business unit. We are looking for a strong leader who is passionate about leading teams in a positive and empowering style while also leading  operations to meet production, quality, customer service, and safety goals.

Distribution Center Manager Responsibilities

  • Direct operations through using management strategies, applying corporate policies & procedures, and leadership to meet or exceed the expectations of both internal and external customers.
  • Consistently ensure that the Distribution Center (DC) leadership team and all employees follow policies and procedures.
  • Verify that all staffing levels are maintained according to budget and volume to fulfill all production, quality, and shipping requirements.
  • Develop and engage all employees throughout the Distribution Center.
  • Hold employees accountable to the safety culture and to meet all customer needs.
  • Deliver and manage the budget for the organization. Submit an annual budget and manage the site to meet cost and income targets.
  • Establish a high level of customer satisfaction by delivering consistent, high quality products and services.
  • Monitor the facility to verify that all compliance standards and OSHA regulations are adhered to. Ensure all employees are using PPE.
  • Develop procedures for product loss, inventory, and shipping to meet production goals and reduce wasted product.
  • Ensure all machinery, services, applications, and processes are functional to meet daily, weekly, and monthly targets.
  • Leverage data to analyze production, quality, customer satisfaction, employee performance, and safety within the site meet internal and external expectations.
  • Interface with internal departments located onsite including Customer Service, Human Resources, Sales, and Operations.
  • Represent the organization while interfacing with external customers.
  • Provide direct management to Production Managers, Administrators, Safety leaders, and Maintenance Supervisors to empower them to lead their own teams while driving them to meet established KPIs.
  • Travel up to 5-10% as needed.

Distribution Center Manager Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred but not required.
  • At last 5 or more years leading a large scale (200+ employee) facility.
  • Prior experience with a diverse workforce is preferred as is the ability to speak, read, or write Spanish and/or Polish.
  • Any experience with SAP is preferred but not required.
  • Must be a hands-on and visible leader who will be on the DC floor to empower employees first while also meeting production targets.
