Role Overview: Lucas Group has partnered with a leading biotechnology company on their search for a Director of HR Operations located in Redwood City. The company consists of a highly passionate, intelligent and driven team looking to hire their first Director of HR for the organization. This role requires someone with a strategic vision and the ability to work tactically as well. The ideal candidate will have experience building an HR department and function from scratch, from the ground up. They will thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment and have experience in the life sciences, biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry. Major areas of interest include but are not limited to the following:

• Candidates need to be strategic and tactical
• Building an HR function from the ground up
• Can build trust with people, especially with the people who have been covering the bases of this role. (they will be on the panel interview)
• Develop and manage HR budget and other financial measures of the HR department
• Own Total Rewards, assess benefits and assess and transition ownership of compensation philosophy, payroll, PTO, Time reporting, salary benchmarking, yearly merit and promo increases
• Diplomacy, discretion and experience building partnerships.  Building trust and confidence
• Adept with change management

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree, Masters preferred
• 8+ years of progressive HR experience
• Previous Biotech or Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred
• Interest working in a highly analytical, technical and competitive market
• Strong communication and listening skills
