They are seeking an individual with a wealth of growing and cultivation knowledge to develop and execute a strategic plan to achieve sales targets and expand cannabis customer base within Southern California. This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, growing start-up in an emerging industry.

The Role:

To effectively plan, organize, direct, and control cannabis production at each of our client’s cultivation facilities to meet the company’s high quality standards and yield requirements. Provide recommendations and resolutions to the executive management team resulting in increased organizational effectiveness and results. In addition, this position ensures effective communication between our client’s corporate headquarters and its satellite facility operations, company meets its customers’ delivery-time expectations and production timelines are met. Additionally, this position ensures that all applicable corporate programs, policies and procedures are followed at the satellite facility.

 Duties:

  • Accountable to deliver key performance indicators (yield, labor, inventory management, quality, safety, packaging costs, on-time delivery) to budgeted standards
  • Accountable for data capturing and analysis of facility environmental conditions and ensuring data capturing and analysis best practices are shared across the organization
  • Responsible for overseeing multi-state facility cultivation operations
  • Ensures that the Company’s on-time delivery goals and quality standards are met across all facilities
  • Responsible for adherence to product and customer specifications
  • Responsible for accurate and timely production reporting including delivering the Company’s daily “walk-through” report for each facility to CEO
  • Promoting a positive labor relations environment within departments and the facility as a whole
  • Responsible for the retention, training, development and mentoring of direct reports, including Harvest Managers
  • Responsible for ensuring that each location is in compliance with local and state regulations
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with state and local regulatory agency employees including being present for all regulatory audits and inspections
  • Responsible for the safe operation of the entire process
  • Ensure best practices are shared across all of the Company’s satellite facilities and corporate headquarters
  • Accountable for refining existing SOPs and ensuring their consistency across the organization.

Requirements

  • Minimum B.S. in horticulture or 10 plus years as a commercial substrate vegetable or fruit grower using hydroponic methods
  • Non-Cannabis experience REQUIRED
  • Minimum 2 years direct experience in overseeing multi-site farm production
  • Proficient in process control, cost management and cost containment strategies
  • Ability to implement and instill a results-oriented performance focus across all personnel and functional responsibility

 Essential Skills & Abilities:

  • Advanced understanding of plant science and nutrition
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multi-location or large scale operations
  • Extensive knowledge of integrated pest management
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage diverse groups of people to meet and exceed productivity, quality and safety standards and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Hands-on leadership style
  • Computer Skills: Computer proficiency is required (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Canopy)
  • Apply common sense understanding to implement policies
  • Work competently under emergency and urgent situations
  • Reason through problems to arrive at safe and prompt resolution
  • Effective communication and training methods with management, supervisory, and formulation staff and ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations to managers, supervisors, consultants, and contractors
