We have partnered with our client in their search for a DevOps Engineer in Columbus, OH

Responsibilities

  • * Designs, implements, and maintains Kubernetes clusters and containerized application deployments across multiple environments, ensuring high availability and scalability
    * Builds and enhances observability platforms using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Grafana Tempo, Dynatrace, and Splunk to provide comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and telemetry collection
    * Collaborates with development teams to containerize applications using Docker, optimize container images, and implement best practices for container security and efficiency
    * Implements and manages CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab, ArgoCD, or Flux to enable automated deployment and GitOps workflows for Kubernetes environments
    * Develops infrastructure as code using Terraform, Helm, or similar tools to automate provisioning and configuration of container orchestration platforms
    * Defines and monitors Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs), implementing proactive alerting to prevent customer-impacting incidents
    * Troubleshoots complex issues across containerized environments, including networking, storage, resource management, and application performance
    * Collaborates with technical experts and stakeholders to design and implement reliability improvements, capacity planning, and disaster recovery strategies
    * Supports the adoption and evangelization of SRE best practices, including error budgets, blameless postmortems, and chaos engineering principles
    * Writes automation scripts and tools using Python, Go, or Bash to improve operational efficiency and reduce toil

Skills Required

  • Strong hands-on Kubernetes experience - highest priority.
  • Must have actually built Kubernetes instances/clusters before.
  • Linux build experience.
  • Kubernetes cluster administration, including:
    • Networking
    • Storage
    • Configuration
  • CI/CD pipelines.
  • Jenkins.
  • Bitbucket.
  • Terraform.
  • Infrastructure as Code.
  • Formal training or certification on SRE concepts with proficient applied experience
    * Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, including cluster administration, workload management, networking (CNI), storage (CSI), and security policies
    * Proficient in Docker containerization, including creating optimized Dockerfiles, managing container registries, and implementing container security best practices
    * Deep expertise in observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Grafana Tempo, Dynatrace or Splunk, with experience building dashboards, alerts, and SLO-based monitoring
    * Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows using tools like Jenkins, GitLab, ArgoCD, Flux, or Spinnaker
    * Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their container services (EKS, AKS, GKE)
    * Proficiency in infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, Helm, Kustomize, or CloudFormation
    * Solid understanding of networking concepts including DNS, load balancing, service mesh (Istio, Linkerd), ingress controllers, and network policies
    * Experience with scripting and automation using Python, Go, Bash, or similar languages
    * Ability to collaborate effectively across teams, present technical concepts clearly, and work independently with minimal supervision
    * Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve complex technical challenges proactively
    Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
    * Advanced certifications such as Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD), or cloud platform certifications
    * Deep expertise in SRE practices including SLA/SLO management, error budgets, MTTR/MTTD optimization, and chaos engineering
    * Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd, Consul) and advanced Kubernetes patterns
    * Knowledge of distributed tracing tools such as Grafana Tempo, or OpenTelemetry
    * Experience with log aggregation and analysis platforms (ELK Stack, Loki, Splunk)
    * Familiarity with security scanning and compliance tools for containers (Aqua, Twistlock)
    * Exposure to AI/ML operations (MLOps) and automation technologies that improve operational efficiency
    * Experience with multi-cluster management, disaster recovery, and high-availability architectures
    * Understanding of FinTech or financial services regulatory requirements and operational standards
    * Contributions to open-source projects related to Kubernetes, observability, or SRE tooling
