Title: Desktop Engineering Field Tech

Location: Remote w/ 10-50% travel to client site during contract

Client Industry: Professional Services

Compensation: $50 - $60/hr.

We have partnered with our client in their search for a Desktop Engineering Field Tech. The Desktop Engineering Field Tech executes hands-on device reimaging, enrollment, and deployment to Microsoft GCC High-compliant configurations during migration waves. The role partners with endpoint engineering, Microsoft Intune administrators, help desk, and site contacts to wipe, reload, enroll, and validate Windows devices for users who cannot rely on Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD). Success is measured by completed device rebuilds, secure Intune enrollment, minimized user disruption, and accurate field deployment tracking.

Responsibilities

  • Execute onsite Windows device reimaging, wipe/reload, enrollment, and deployment activities
  • Configure endpoints to meet Microsoft GCC High-compliant desktop and security requirements
  • Enroll devices in Microsoft Intune and validate compliance, access, and user readiness
  • Provide hands-on hardware, imaging, and desktop support during migration waves
  • Coordinate with endpoint engineering, Intune, help desk, and site teams to schedule user migrations
  • Minimize user disruption by preparing devices, resolving setup issues, and confirming access after reload
  • Track device status, deployment progress, exceptions, and post-migration support needs
  • Support remote coordination with regular travel to client sites for field deployment activity

Skills Required

  • Windows imaging, reimaging, hard wipe/reload, and endpoint deployment methods
  • Microsoft Intune device enrollment, compliance validation, and troubleshooting
  • Microsoft Endpoint Manager or Microsoft Intune admin center support for Windows endpoints
  • Hardware support for laptops, desktops, peripherals, drivers, and docking equipment
  • Field deployment planning for geographically dispersed users and physical office locations
  • User profile, application readiness, and post-migration desktop validation
  • Secure handling of sensitive data in Microsoft GCC High environments
  • Ticketing, asset tracking, deployment reporting, and issue escalation
  • Clear user communication during onsite device rebuild and migration activities
  • Coordination with endpoint engineering, help desk, security, and migration teams

Education & Work Experience

  • Relevant degree preferred in information technology, computer science, desktop support, or equivalent experience
  • 6-9 years of desktop engineering, endpoint deployment, or field support experience
  • Candidates without a degree must have a qualifying Microsoft Azure certification, Microsoft 365 certification, Microsoft Intune certification, or Desktop MCSC certification
  • Experience with Windows imaging, Intune enrollment, Endpoint Manager, hardware support, and field deployments
