Title: Data Governance Lead (Remote)
Location: Remote with occasional travel to Finland

Compensation: $80 - $100/hr.
We have partnered with our client in their search for a Data Governance Lead. The Data Governance Lead will spearhead developing and implementing data governance policies and procedures, ensuring robust management of the enterprise data lifecycle. This role requires strategic thinking and deep expertise in data governance frameworks, global data privacy regulations, and industry best practices. The Data Governance Lead will collaborate closely with various teams, including Product Cloud Engineering and Operations, to enhance data quality, protection, compliance, and value. The role also involves significant change management responsibilities to embed a data governance culture across the organization. Monitoring the effectiveness of data governance practices and staying abreast of industry trends is key to the success of this role.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive data governance framework and strategy that aligns with company objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and govern an enterprise data governance implementation roadmap, prioritizing the development of information-based capabilities.
- Create and enforce policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data accuracy, quality, and integrity across the organization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data governance practices into data systems and processes.
- Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for data stewardship activities.
- Manage and oversee the maintenance of data models, data catalog, and metadata management to facilitate data quality, consistency, and usability.
- Partner with information security to support data-related risk assessments and ensure compliance with global data privacy laws, including GDPR.
- Work with the legal department to establish and maintain data usage guidelines, data sharing agreements, and data-related policies.
- Lead organizational change management to embed a data governance culture across the company.
- Participate in enterprise initiatives and acquisition integration efforts to ensure that data-related activities are properly identified and prioritized.
- Monitor and report on data governance metrics and KPIs to evaluate the effectiveness of data management efforts.
- Facilitate data governance committees and working groups to ensure cross-functional alignment and decision-making.
- Stay informed of industry trends and advancements in data governance and management technologies.
Skills Required
- Strong expertise in data governance practices, including the management of enterprise information assets.
- Extensive experience with data privacy, protection laws, compliance, and risk management.
- Proven ability to lead data migration initiatives in AWS & Azure environments.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders across the organization.
- Familiarity with data governance and management tools and platforms.
Education & Work Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a data governance or data management role, preferably within the Fintech industry.
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), or similar are a plus.
