500 - 550 per day (EUR)

We are currently seeking an experienced Data Architect to join a large-scale enterprise data programme within the financial services sector.

This is a hands-on architecture role, suited to someone who enjoys being close to the detail rather than operating purely at a strategic level. You will play a key role in the design and delivery of enterprise data warehouse solutions, working closely with engineering, delivery, business and architecture teams.

The Role

You will be responsible for supporting data architecture across complex enterprise data environments, translating business and technical requirements into pragmatic, scalable solutions.

The role will involve a significant hands-on element, including detailed data analysis, SQL investigation, solution validation and supporting delivery teams through build, testing and implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and support data architecture design for enterprise data warehouse delivery.
  • Analyse source data, data flows, business requirements and downstream consumption needs.
  • Perform hands-on SQL investigation, technical analysis and solution validation.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders, engineers, testers, delivery leads and fellow architects.
  • Evaluate design options and recommend pragmatic, scalable and standards-aligned solutions.
  • Produce architecture documentation including High Level Designs, Architecture Design Decisions, solution options, assumptions, risks and design rationale.
  • Present architecture proposals and recommendations to governance and architecture forums.
  • Embed data governance, metadata, lineage, controls, reconciliation, auditability and regulatory considerations into solution design.
  • Support delivery teams throughout build, testing, implementation and issue resolution.
  • Contribute to metadata-driven data ingestion, transformation and delivery frameworks where appropriate.

Essential Experience

  • 5+ years' experience in Data Architecture, ideally operating as a Data Architect, or equivalent experience as a senior Data Engineering Lead with demonstrable architecture ownership.
  • Strong hands-on Teradata experience within an enterprise data warehouse environment.
  • Excellent SQL, data investigation and technical troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Experience with financial services data models, ideally including Teradata Financial Services Data Model (FS-DM) or an equivalent model.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data warehouse architecture, data marts, data integration and large-scale data platforms.
  • Previous experience within banking, financial services or regulatory data environments.
  • Understanding of regulatory data requirements, including areas such as BCBS 239, RDARR, regulatory reporting, data traceability and auditability.
  • Strong data modelling and analysis skills, including source analysis, relationship mapping and structure definition.
  • Experience with ETL delivery processes and tools such as Informatica and/or DataStage.
  • Experience designing or implementing metadata-driven ingestion, transformation, control, reconciliation or data delivery frameworks.
  • Knowledge of Control-M or comparable batch scheduling/orchestration technologies.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including experience presenting to architecture or governance forums.
  • Ability to produce high-quality architecture documentation and governance artefacts.
  • Strong judgement and the confidence to challenge constructively while driving decisions through to resolution.
  • Experience with, or a strong understanding of, Inmon-style enterprise data warehouse architecture.
