Cyber Security Analyst

Overview

We are seeking a proactive and highly engaged Cyber Security Analyst. This person will stay ahead of potential risks by ensuring all malware protection is current, monitoring alerts, validating that the correct security triggers are active, and maximizing the value of the organization's existing security tools. Many of these tools are not currently being used to their full potential.

This position requires someone who thrives in a small team environment, enjoys taking initiative, and is comfortable wearing multiple hats. The role is onsite and is structured as a contract to hire opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

* Act as the security fire marshal by ensuring all malware protections and endpoint defenses remain fully up to date.
* Verify that all critical alerts are functioning as intended. For example, alerts for non approved devices connecting to the network.
* Manage and optimize all security tools with a primary focus on vulnerability management.
* Review the vulnerability management system each day and work directly with the patch management team to address identified issues.
* Monitor alerts, validate whether they represent false positives or real security events, and escalate when appropriate.
* Manage the organization's security training platform.
* Ensure that all security tools are used to their fullest capability and identify opportunities for improvement.
* Partner with and mentor a junior team member who will assist with operational tasks.

* CrowdStrike
* Tenable io and Nessus
* Proofpoint for email security
* Microsoft 365 security tools
* Cisco Umbrella/OpenDNS

Must Have Qualifications

* Professional experience as a Security Analyst or Security Engineer.
* Hands on experience with CrowdStrike Tenable Proofpoint and related security tools.
* Comfort working in a small team with a culture that requires flexibility and multiple responsibilities.
* A genuine passion for cyber security and a strong personal drive to stay informed on new threats trends and security news.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify events that require escalation.
* Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
