Cost Accounting Manager

We have partnered with our client in the manufacturing industry on their search for a Cost Accounting Manager. This is a contract to hire opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Verify and rectify inventory transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness, supporting monthly financial reporting.
  • Generate reports for management, outlining factors influencing product cost and profitability for comparative analysis.
  • Monthly calculation of inventory reserve based on aging inventory evaluation.
  • Collaborate with the supply chain to establish or enhance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) impacting financial performance.
  • Review work order variances in conjunction with the production team.
  • Contribute to the annual budgeting process.
  • Aid in the month-end close of the general ledger.
  • Coordinate with external auditing firm during the annual audit process.
  • Analyze and report variances on work orders related to manufacturing and fabrication.
  • Collaborate with supply chain, production, and sites to train users on proper movement types within SAP (Systems, Applications, and Products).
  • Lead the development and implementation of accounting and operational procedures and processes.
  • Evaluate costs of materials, processes, and labor to identify opportunities for reducing production and inventory costs.
  • Analyze intricate data, identify patterns, recommend actions, and measure outcomes.
  • Develop or update documentation on accounting and operational processes, specifically focusing on inventory management and costing.
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned.

Skills Required

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills applicable across all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership abilities with a commitment to achieving results.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, emphasizing accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively within a team and work independently.
  • Comfort and proficiency in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment.
  • Knowledge or experience in exercising sound judgment within broadly defined practices and policies.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, coupled with experience using other financial systems.

Education & Work Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in accouniting, finance, or economics 
  • 5+ years in manufacturing or related industry
