Cost Accountant
Our firm has been selected to conduct a search for a Cost Accountant on behalf of a publicly traded manufacturing company in Houston. The ideal candidate will have a BS/BA Degree in Finance or Accounting with 2-5+ years’ work experience in cost accounting. Compensation up to $80K
This position will entertain a competitive range of compensation including base salary and competitive benefits.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required
- MBA or master’s in accounting is a plus
- 2-5 years level of Accounting/Finance or related experience (can be a combination of internship and work experience)
- Manufacturing or cost accounting experience preferred
- Accounting or Finance professional certification (e.g. CPA, CMA, etc.) preferred
- Proficient Microsoft Excel
Some responsibilities include…
- Provide insight for specific improvements in plant material, labor, overhead, scrap, floor planning, inventory levels, staffing, etc. to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the manufacturing operation.
- Assist Finance and Accounting functions in performing audits and maintaining controls
- Quantify cost down initiatives, reconcile and maintain accurate inventory records within the scope of the manufacturing operation
- Assist in preparation of multiple budgets and forecast cycles and reconciliation
- Ensure accurate fixed asset records are maintained for assets residing at supplier locations
