Corporate Finance Transformation & FP&A Leader (Insurance)

Role Overview

Our client is seeking a senior finance leader to drive enterprise finance modernization at a top insurance company. This role owns the multi year transformation roadmap across Finance-modernizing processes, systems, reporting, and planning-while leading FP&A and expense management initiatives that materially improve run rate performance. The ideal candidate blends insurance domain depth with hands on program leadership and advanced proficiency in Anaplan for budgeting, allocations, and scenario planning.


Key Responsibilities

Finance Transformation & Modernization

  • Lead the end -to -end Finance transformation roadmap (assessment, sequencing, execution) in partnership with Finance, Technology, and Actuarial.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and systems gaps; stand up modernization workstreams spanning close, reporting, planning, and analytics.
  • Establish program governance, change management, communications, and executive reporting for all initiatives.

FP&A Leadership & Strategic Partnering

  • Oversee enterprise/business unit FP&A (forecasting, driver based planning, KPI frameworks, monthly/quarterly reporting) with clear, decision ready insights for the C-suite.
  • Partner with business and actuarial teams on product profitability, new product launches, and earnings?trajectory improvement plans.

Expense Management & Performance

  • Own expense budgeting and allocations, run rate management, and year over year improvement levers; deliver transparent expense analytics to senior leadership.
  • Implement and optimize Anaplan models (budgeting, allocations, scenario planning) and Tableau reporting to shorten cycle time and elevate visibility.

Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead cross functional teams (direct and matrixed), setting priorities, coaching talent, and instilling a modernization mindset.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to CFO staff, Technology leaders, and business executives; drive alignment across Finance, Actuarial, and Operations.

Required Qualifications

  • 12+ years' progressive finance leadership in insurance/financial services (e.g., life, annuities, LTC, agency/brokerage).
  • Demonstrated success leading finance transformation programs at scale (roadmap design, program management, change management).
  • Advanced Anaplan expertise (owning build/optimization of budget, allocation, and scenario planning models).
  • Strong FP&A toolkit: driver based planning, KPI dashboards, executive?level storytelling, and board?ready reporting; hands on Tableau for analytics/visualization.
  • Proven leadership of multi?disciplinary teams and influence across senior stakeholders in matrixed environments.

Preferred Credentials

  • MBA (Finance/Strategy) and/or professional designations (CFA, CPA).
  • Track record improving expense trajectory and compressing close/allocation cycles via technology?enabled process redesign.
  • Experience introducing self service analytics and standardized reporting frameworks (e.g., Tableau, Wdesk).
  • Technical skills including Python, SQL, and familiarity with data warehouses or cloud-based data environments (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery); ability to perform data extraction, transformation, and basic automation.
